I'm expecting this DLC to hit April 2017 or 2nd qtr after housing which hits 1st qtr... I really want it to be minimal the size of Wrothgar in terms of land mass and questing... We could always get a massive DLC Dwelmer underground maze too!

Based on the datamine, it has the same number of world bosses/dungeons as Wrothgar with (I think) many more locations.

It will be at a bare minimum the size of Wrothgar. This doesn't account for the variety of environments it will present :)

What I do hope with Vvardenfell is that it will be OPEN. Majority of the maps ingame (except Cyrodiil and Wrothgar) are very cluttered with everything from trees, rocks and monsters. I love Cyrodiils/Wrothgars open space and hope they implement some of that into Vvardenfell.

Because I absolutely hate when you run into a creature in PvE zones every 5ft. Doesn't feel realistic. I just want to enjoy the scenery without being bothered by creatures everywhere.

You never played Morrowind did you? You can't go 2 feet without getting attacked by a cliff racer.

Nope never :p. I just want enjoy the beautiful nature without getting attacked by a creature every two seconds.

I'm pretty sure that on TESNEXUS you can still find mods for Morrowind. One of the is called "less agressive critters", making the cliff racers a lot less agressive. It makes exploring Vvardenfell a lot more fun.

I suppose that there will always be constraints on size due to technology and gameplay.

How big is the ESO Tamriel in real world terms. Some people have made rough calculations. It is possible to drive from Yorkshire to London in about 3 hours (I believe travel across the greater L.A. area takes about the same time). A horse, which moves far slower could probably get from one end of the ESO version of Tamriel to the other within the same time. This is just guestimation on my part.

The entirety of Second Life I believe covered an area that would be the size of Luxembourg.

The scale of Tamriel I believe varies in each Elder Scrolls game by constraints of technology and how much of the world is included in the game.

The bottom line is that for a game trying to include so much of Tamriel in quite high detail at the current level of technology it is to be expected the zones will probably be smaller than previous games.

Ive always wondered this about ESO.

I think Cyrodiil is the only part that is the same size at it was in Oblivion.

Everything else seems much smaller and you can run from one side to the other quickly

Vvardenfell is approximately the same size as the Summerset Isles, and we've only seen Auridon, which is about a quarter of the total size of the isles.

So Vvardenfell will be about four times the size of Auridon, maybe two or three times the size of Wrothgar.

As for the quests, well it's three hundred years before Dagoth Ur revives, the false gods haven't yet been locked out of the Red Mountain, the ghostfence doesn't exist. I'm not sure that much is happening in Vvardenfell in ESO's timeline.

Vvardenfell will be incredible no matter what. Seriously.... we even get the Morag Tong motif at the same time!

What you should be worrying about is whether or not ZOS will take the absolutely perfect opportunity to create a fifth trial out of Red Mountain.

    Aetherian Archive
    Hel Ra Citadel
    Sanctum Ophidia
    Maw of Lorkhaj
    Red Mountain

Fits in quite nicely imo. So does the Numidian..... and Dagoth Ur :o

Refresh my memory, that is where you go through ghost gate right?

Yup! Ghostgate was created to contain what Red Mountain spawns.

You climb Red Mountain in Morrowind, killing tons of ghoulish creatures and Ash Vampires, and eventually reach Dagoth Ur in the chamber w/ the Numidium.

Then you basically finish the main quest by using Sunder and Keening (along with Wraithguard) to destroy the Heart of Lorkhan. At least I think you destroyed the Heart, since it might not have actually been "destroyed" altogether.

    Remember now?
I'm a little fuzzy on some of the timeline - would Dagoth Ur have started spreading blight by the time of ESO, or is that still in the future?

I don't think the blight will have started but he will have obtained enough power to keep the Tribunal from making their pilgrimage to the Heart of Lorkhan if I recall correctly.
So I guess there'd be no ghost fence yet...
No, indeed not. There's not actually any Dagoth Ur yet either. He doesn't wake up until 2E 882.

    1. During release of ESO it was said that Red Mountain erupted coz of Planemeld and cutted Tribunal connection to Heart
I don't remember that. If that's the case, that makes a good setup for a Red Mountain Expedition without needing to involve Dagoth Ur, and that would be perfect.

In actual game lore sure... but the land mass for vvardenfell is already in the game and it's only marginally bigger than wrothgar.

Honestly I wouldn't be opposed to having Vvardenfell broke up into a couple DLC's... Kinda like Craglorn was split into upper and lower, that way we get a large landmass with a lot of quests, lore, and various adventures.
