Who makes the "META"? And who makes it known ?

    @FriedEggSandwich

    I am convinced that some very smart intellectual person finds bugs in some builds. And being good at heart reported it and put it in the exploit/bug section. Then some kids get home to find it on the forums, make it and start exploiting thus telling his friends etc, etc.

    I first heard about the overload toggle exploit from deltia believe it or not lol. But he was told it by someone else. I don't mind bugs being published in that way, it ultimately leads to them being fixed more quickly.

    A lot of posters here seem to relate meta shifts to patches. Meta shifts happen over time with or without patches. Patches only forces meta to break out of its equilibrium make forcing players out of their comfort zone. Over time metas do find equilibrium but do expect it to change with or without patch, albeit slowly.

    For example, currently offensive meta is the black rose and defensive meta is the impenetrable trait. As more and more players pick sustain damage over critical, some will decide to move out of the impenetrable meta. As population of impenetrable trait goes down, spike damage will go up again, decreasing popularity of black rose. This is called a meta shift.

    For players to get into their comfort zone, it takes about several months to years.

    The meta is whatever other people have that kills you. When you become the meta that killed you, you instantly become "skilled". When you still die as the meta despite being "skilled" whatever killed you is OP.

    now that's funny...props to you for your insight

    oh and don't forget to add that when you get killed by something it also has to be nerfed

    The meta is simply what the majority of players wear. No one person sets the meta, it just happens

    This is actually not correct. Even one person can "make" the meta. A combination of skills, gear and playstyle can be made popular and spread through videos, word-of-mouth, websites, etc. Little to nothing truly only "happens", there is always something set in motion way back that leads to the event, being it builds becoming popular or not.

    Anthony Hotskins (Altmer Nightblade)

    the meta is easy to spot just watch the blobbers in cyrodiil, they will all be wearing the same armor and spamming the same attacks, I am sure the min maxers with their parsers find the best combination and share that info with their guild and then you have clones running around. :neutral:

    People sometimes mistake builds/equipment for skill. A person can greatly improve effectiveness by incorporating meta/bis equipment. These can help make up for deficiencies in skill that hindered them before. When these folks get to the harder content, they begin asking for the next bis stuff to get them to the next level when its their fingers that need to get better.

    No equipment will help animation cancel, improve your skill combos, or tell you you're standing in red.

    Your preferences, abilities and knowing your own limitations need to be the foundation for your build. META comes after that stuff.

    Black rose / velidreth = no skill needed

    Currently no one is letting ZOS know about all the exploits in the new sets on PTS. It's going to be a *** show when it releases.
