I worked hard for them, and I'm worried that they'll mean nothing if crafted CP180 weapons will outclass them.
Not to mention, if ZOS does in fact allow these places to drop CP180 gear? It is going to be extremely disheartening to have to grind again for sharpened weapons.
Typically this happens throughout all MMORPGs, as they expand so must you. I remember in Everquest 2, it took me 3 months roughly just to get a part of my [Mythical] weapon, and then 6 months more just to complete it. Then they pushed out two more Expansion packs (about 1 a year) and suddenly my Mythical's only purpose was to be added to my 'Wall of Weapons' that I collected for my in-game house. Sh-t happens.

The only reason you need to keep playing a game is because you enjoy the actual gameplay elements. Anyone old enough...or just old :P...will remember Original Neverwinter Nights. A game that people are STILL playing. I played it for 12 years, well after Bioware left it for dead, and the server is still going. There are multiple servers still going. The game only ever had 1 level increase, from 20-40.

300k pieces, or 300k worth of... lmao.
Just to add to the discussion, the only reason they would force a gear level increase is to clean some gold from the economy, so any wishes for tokens is a pipe dream.

I agree this would be a bad move for at least a year. I thought they said they were bumping gear up to 180 next update or the update after that? Can anyone corroborate or debunk this rumor? Appreciate it guys! Happy FRYDAY!

It's been a year since the last level increase.

If ZOS ever increases the gear to CP180 from CP160, will there be a way of increasing our previously obtained gear to CP180?

CP 180: Eleventy Billion megasupercrazyrocks

No it doesn't... previous MMO I played, level cap was 50.. and 15 years later it is still level 50.
Well i dont know why you are so unhappy if the do that i mean just look at WoW you spend most of your time at end game farm for best until next expansion come and booom the new expansion hit and 1 st green reward item is 10 time better the your best raid gear and you have start all over again and if you dont know this it happen everytime a new expansion hit WoW so why should ZoS not use same "winning" thing in ESO?
The only difference between the current state and a release of CP180 stuff is that you can actually craft appropriate stuff again.
Every patch, the newly released sets are so much stronger than what was available before that you have to grind out everything anyways.
Effectively, they raise item level every single update. Players just don't notice it as they don't change min level required.
So this whole post is basically only about wanting to retain value of vMSA weapons, and on this point my opinion is that their advantage is simply too large. Nerf master/maelstrom weapons.

This post is awesome. Way to turn this thread from a major QQ thread to a NERF something thread.

Good. Nerf sorcs.
Yeah I agree, I feel like an elitist saying it, but I hate running vet dungeons and getting cp 10 players. Now if get a group and the players aren't at least cp 300 I leave, I'll wait 15 minutes lol. That being said just bc someone is a high cp it doesn't mean they are good, but odds are they're pretty goodThey could release a whole new area, where it doesn't scale. Would become some kind of end game content, where only 160 could venture. Trials and dungeons would require u to be at least 160 and the grind for gear would suck.

So a higher cap would have a different combination of perks?
No I am saying if they increased the cap to 180 you would have to use your mats to craft a new set of gear. If they added a new set at 160 that you really wanted to use then you would still have to use your mats to craft a new set of gear. So increasing the cap really isn't gonna make a difference in terms of crafting. Now grinding for gear is a whole different story.

Except if you have had your gear at max for a while, you SHOULD already have the mats saved up to make new gear. Unless you sold everything, in which case that isnt the devs fault.

Or you have more than 1 character?
Plus there will be new mats so no one will have any mats saved up..

This may be true for those who do group and end game content, but what about solo players?!? Our 'stronger' gear comes from crafted sets... and I have yet to see any crafted set that is an improvement over the old standard sets. Further, at CP160 and CP cap, you don't even NEED new sets to succeed in solo content... so what's the point? At least a raise in level would be a reason to craft new set gear with hopefully new mats.
As to people that play 'because they enjoy the content (not leveling)'... that's great... but I play to "level"... I play to continually improve my character... and once I reach a road-block where my character ceases progression, I find no purpose in playing anymore. Isn't that the same in real life? People always complain how their lives are stuck in a rut, same job for years, no progression in their lives... while other people constantly change some aspect of their life so they are always moving forward, always progressing, and don't wind up 'stuck in a rut' and always miserable about it.
