Most people hear a whole dictionary of profanity from their parents and friends as they grow up, but oh no we have to censor EVERYTHING in an online game about killing people.

I am a single father of 2 kids. Boy and a girl. I am a bit more understanding of where you are coming from. However, if video games have more influence on them than you do. That is an issue. I am NOT saying they do, just telling you where I am coming from.
I do not need nudity to make a game M, but I would like to see a few more kill options, limbs, or decaps or a leg flying after a meteor strike. I know I would laugh if I got ganked and cut in half.
As for F bombs, I don't care, maybe it was never in the "ESO" language, but who knows. Other words yea, if used properly, or have NPC flirt or dance.
We are in a war torn world, even if its locations where you go and see dead NPC's, having heads or bodies on pikes. Yea I could understand how Molag Bol pretty much rips people apart so add that.
As of mixing genres, I am pretty sure every game Teen and up mixes them. Maybe not in the best see "Ride to Hell" Done terribly and to me, just one of the worst games of all time.
Now take, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, even Deadpool. Plays into the story, adds relationships and if Deadpool doesnt cuss 5000 times than its not a good Deadpool game, That is just who is character is.
Once again, not attacking you as a father or a parent, that is all your call. But you can't shy or hide from it.

Me too, bruh. Me too. I love them.
You mean Darien hooking up with the captain in Rivenspire wasn't good enough for you?
Lol, I remember the first time I saw that. It made my week and I loved Darien ever since, though up until that point I thought he was kind of a prick. I suppose technically nothing has changed there, but man... Good times good memories.
Gotta be careful with particle effects like blood. It can REALLY slow you down when you need all the performance you computer can give you. (You know. Cause you're getting focused-fired.)

@ThePaleItalian no offense taken. Having thought about it a little more, I think we need to elevate our definition of what makes a "mature" game. Right now, we have an adolescent view...if it has nudity, cussing, and gore, it's an "adult" game. I'm not 14 anymore, and I don't think these are necessarily cool.
Instead, to me an adult or mature game should be the themes it handles. Games can be an art form and convey and tackle weighty topics. As an example of a game that handled mature themes look at the last of us. Sure the game has cussing and gore, but that's not what makes it a mature game to me. Look at the way the game tackles the topics of loss, the way Ellie handles (near) sexual victimization, and Joel's fatherly response to that including the complete change in their relationship.
We should be asking ZOS to tackle more weighty topics if we want a mature game, not add more adolescent elements just for the sake of adding them. You're right, this is a war torn world. Where my morally ambiguous quests where I have to choose between saving my kid/spouse and saving the queen? Or if demora have a free will and if they could be liberated from Molag bals control? Those would be cool topics to explore. You mentioned mass effect. From what I hear, that game has these types of choices. Give me more of that!
I think the thing here is balance. The Witcher games do a good job with this - they convey cities which feel "real" and mature in an intelligent way .

Various quest dialog and books you find certainly have "adult" overtones yet the accompanying visuals are lacking. No blood or even signs of injury when people and monsters are killed. Almost all armor and clothing is virtually suited to nuns and priests. I don't want to see G-strings and six inch high heels but some more skin would be nice. This request comes up constantly though and ZOS has steadfastly not responded to it.
Low level dunmer and argonin armor shows off quite a bit of skin, as well as a few costumes. The new Minotaur style does as well.
Be reasonable about this, our characters are fighting battles and wars, why would they do it with their bits getting a good draft?
Aerodynamics. As well as keeping our characters both cool and dry. As you know, sweat probably builds up in suits of hide and metal. Thus leading to things like bacteria and fungi, all due to moisture. Getting a good draft could tone down the chances of that significantly, while also assisting with overall mobility.

This made me think of a post-apocalyptic version of Nirn, what Nirn would be like if Molag Bal completed the Planemeld. Instead we got a very otherworldly realm of spiky floating rocks and few truly dark/frightening moments. Even the fake Imperial Palace is squeaky-clean. :P
I agree with the OP.
It was really refreshing playing the Witcher 3 and having a mature world to explore where people get annoyed and act like it with dialogue to match, but more than this the dark feeling to the world just gave it more depth. When I'm hunting a tormented spirit I learn it really is a tormented spirit and not a jolly nice chap whose brothers locked it away for wanting to go and help some other jolly nice chaps.
Hell Tharn talks about a Riften Brothel, but no matter how hard I looked I couldn't find one! On a slightly more serious note, much of the personality of my character seems to be a 12 year old slightly *** self loathing nice guy. So many things to love about the game though it can come off as horribly cheesy when your dialogue is always 'Let Me Help You!' and when your done 'Your smile is more than enough reward for me, Oh and kids be good to your Mum and drink your Milk' and should a buxom wench be throwing herself at our dashing hero 'You don't want to be doing that Miss. You should enroll in college and get an education, come I will help you fill out your application. And remember kids only bad girls have sex outside of marriage and then only for the purpose of procreation! All the while heading off to murder 100's of people with the blade of woe for an achievement. 'Murders fine kids as long as you remember to eat your vegetables!'
So yeah a more mature setting, maybe one where I can even call out NPCs on being jerks or make demands etc rather than begging to help them would be nice.
You cannot predict what vulgar statements/conversations players will talk about in-game therefore the decision of ESO being M-Rated/18+ has to do with that (I think). Adding Gore, Profanity and more Violence simply because that rating is there seems questionable but doubt it's the direction ZOS want to take...
However I do agree selected NPC dialog would be more believable if they was to use mild profanity occasionally.
