gathering lower level mats

Maybe i missed this discussion, but how can max crafting level characters collect various level mats. All i am seeing highest level mats in all areas i have visited (like current DLC). I have one crafting character who I use to gather and craft. This could be a problem if i have to create another character and make sure i don't overlevel crafting. Plus, I like to sell mats in market. Is this being addressed?

In update 12 crafting writs will have a chance at rewarding you with a crate of lower-tier materials. So while high-level crafters will be unable to farm them it's not like they will completely disappear.

I wish someone would address the fact that cp 10-140 armor and food are completely not in demand. The economy has been detrimented with the removal of veteran ranks, and nothing was done about it. We have virtually useless recipes, the ones that used to be between vr1 and vr16. Same goes for materials basically, all because people gain their first 100 cp in one day. I wish something was done to thise old recipes to make them useful once again.

I don't understand how you guys don't have stock piles of these materials. Especially with the crafting bag. I loot everything, everywhere on everyone. Even in Cyrodiil, I'll come save Ash but first I'm picking this columbine! :D

Also if you haven't stocked up then get out there and start!

It's really strange that now we have to build a character to farm specific levels of mats.

Yeah I know. I've burned most of my low-level mats making gear for other people and I don't really farm the lower-level zones. Not sure what I'm going to do when it comes time to level my 4 new mules, especially since the return on writs is so poor nowadays and I'm down to only doing them on one character. Guild traders it is I guess.

There are numerous discussions about this already.

My suggestion to address the issue of high end crafters wanting to craft lower mats is to remove the lower gear cap restriction on mats. That way rubedite could craft gear from lvl 1 to cp160.

But the necessity to link mats harvested to character in a world no longer shackled to a linear progression to zone by zone advancement, linking mats supply to mats demand on the big scale and other reasons mesn the basic scaling is a no brainer.

But one underlying point is that in every pstch of significance there are ways of doing things, builds, etc which require adaptation. This time some crafting needs will change that will change demands that will change the ways things get done.

I myself for instsnce dont get my monkey wrenched over recipes i know and dont use anymore than i fret not using quicksilver.

You can respec and only put x amount of points in that craft to get lower level mats. A pain to go back and forth for sure, but this currently works on live.

Cue the conspiracy theory; working as intended to boost the sales of the extra character slots for mat farming drones.

Of course most of the ES single game players have already bought the extra slots....my 4 newbies are coming along nicely....
