what will happen to cp 160 mats?

ng2084b14_ESO
Will the price go down when update 12 launches? So is it to better to sell them now.

Reason is all zones have access to these mats for people who are cp160 or above.

Instead of 3 or 4 zones to farm this stuff, it will be 18 to 19 zones to farm it. I loaded up an alt (CP624) on the PTS that has no points in Crafting and he saw a mix of top end and bottom end mats in the couple of zones I visited.

So, I imagine we will have a glut of top end, and bottom end mats. The middle tier mats (L16 to CP140) are just going to pretty much disappear from the economy.

EVERY character everywhere will be finding every mat they harvest as appropriate to their level in some way.

So characters at level 37 or at cp 77 will find appropriate mats.

That should IMO mean all prices go down bc nobody is ever getting useless mats (other than the non-crafter jute etc but there are always new low end characters.)

i dont think the mid tiers will go up because supply be driven by demand - the number of character at a given level, the more people getting nodes of it - the fewer characters at a level the fewer getting nodes of it.

So my guess is stuff that is over inflated now will drop to reasonable as supply and demand come in sync. items that are underprieced now due to a glut MAY go up over time but the glut will have to subside.

Overall i would not want to bet on harvesting more gold from other players off mats after OneT than now.

I think you are a little over optimistic here - a lot of players simply do not harvest materials at all and rely on either what they find or crafters who spend the time to run around many areas gathering stuff up. Those are the people that are liable to suffer most as well as guilds where high level players do free crafting for new guildies.

You consistently ignore the fact that most crafters craft for other players. These other players are not always at the cap.

Some of these crafters supply the mats, some don't. Under One Tamriel, no Master Crafter will ever be able to farm for mats for any other level than what their crafting material level is set at. Given that by the time they are Master Crafters, most are above CP160, so mid tier mats are not going to be farmed by any crafters unless they happen to be set to that material level. I for one am not respeccing my crafters just to farm.

Add in that Farming for mats is not something most players enjoy, they would rather buy them from Farmers or from Crafters as finished products.

Where are all these mid tier mats going to come from to be fed into the economy?

^^This is the point I've made elsewhere......

Level 16 to 50 mats are going to be thin on the ground, I presently level all my new characters in non vet PVP. The only way round it for me is I will have to build a character and farm like mad with it, in every area because I use a lot of mid level mats playing around with different sets. :(

Yeah. I craft for a lot of guildies. Three out of the five I belong to I'm one of the master crafters for. None of them charge anything for crafting. In other posts STEVIL keeps insisting that the only reason anyone would be objecting to this is because they are "harvesting gold" from being a crafter.

I only wish. I use my own gold to buy motifs, to buy green level tempers because I make all the gear I craft for low level players to green, to buy mats I don't have time to go farm myself. On a few occasions I've gotten a tip from people I craft for. A few times I've gotten a few extra mats or a gold temper. One time I got a fortified nirncrux. If mats have to be bought, then something is going to have to change; either the guilds will have to charge membership fees, there will have to be mandatory raffle participation, or we will have to charge the people just out of coldharbor gold for their gear. Or spend a lot of time explaining to players who don't want to harvest the mats instead of playing the game how to find them.

Yeah, I don't charge for crafting within the guilds i am in and make with my own mats if I can - although if people send mats then fine.

In one of the guilds I am in we used to occasionally just make a bunch of low level 5 pc sets with our surplus mats and just give them out for free on bank holiday weekends - boy did that freak people out.

However I do make money from selling surplus mats and tempers etc from what I have over via trade guilds - simply because I actually enjoy running around gathering stuff :)

Players with Alts that level them in BWB!

I don't ever go gold except with max level gear but I often go purple for my BWB weapons & armour.

Writs will now provide 25 refined mats from a random lower tier. So pro crafters who do writs on a regular basis should get a steady flow of low and mid level materials.

Apparently quite a few do. I do it mostly because it's been fun. They get to look through the different sets that I can craft for them, and get to pick some combo they like. And the motif - often different for different pieces as well (they can get some idea from eso-fashion.com). When a friend first started playing it seriously made the game for him just to breath fire on people with ashen grip. And then later to blow enemies back with death's wind. While leveling the armor turns over so quickly that cobbling together drops doesn't produce anything too fun before they get so old that they need to be replaced. That fun is worth burning some amount of time for (obtaining mats). I hope that the changes don't make it so that the time or resources required don't outweigh the fun obtained.

With respect to the 25 random mats - that will help. But if you are trying to make it just on that, it may be hard. For example, there are 18 different "low level" clothier mats, so assuming you get a survey 1/3 of the time, you'll get about four boxes a week, or about one of each of the mats a month. You probably need two boxes to do one full set, so figure you can get about 1 set of a given level every two months. I think the hope is that many won't want the low level mats, and will just dump them in guild stores. I guess we'll see how it pans out when it goes live.

I think the answer to that is determined by how many high level crafters are on the game that don't own a single bit of DLC. My guess would be that they're in the minority. For them the update is huge because they no longer need to buy the mats or farm them inefficiently in Cyrodill, but I don't believe such a small amount of people like this entering the market is enough to change the prices drastically.

Even though right now there are only 3 PVE zones where you can obtain the mats, you can still farm up a storm in those areas with barely any interruption from other players (this is the case on PS4 EU at least). The demand for CP 160 mats is so high because there is a large portion of the community who just flat out can't be bothered to consistently farm them, so it will be irrelevant to those people how many more locations there are that allow you to collect the mats. Also, even though all of Tamriel will become a high level crafter's playground, I still believe Hew's Bane will remain no.1 because of how small and congested it is (there's a mat around every damn corner). If most people resort to staying there after the update then it will be like nothing has changed.

People who don't want to farm mats still won't farm mats.

The big problem this patch is there won't be much crafting going on.

Don't know if you Guys noticed one of the changes on writs , but being sent to a random zone for the survey is not very efficient.
