Hi, I have a friend in China who wants to guild up with us, (XBOX EU) and I wanted to know if anyone knew if it all works ok, I.e. I know some internet is restricted etc

He has struggled to be shipped media in the past too so may need to pay full price on the Xbox Store to download it...

Anyway, any actual knowledge of people connecting from China would be awesome

I was in Beijing earlier this week and back last night. www or forums.elderscrollsonline.com works. The game on PC NA is fine. Not sure about xbox.

Interestingly, the ping was 250-600 in PVE using hotel internet. 220-280 using mobile network.

P.S. I tried Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Shanghai, Guangzhou as well, seems fine to me (PC NA)

I played on both PS4 EU and NA, as well as PC from India, Korea and Japan. All of them worked just fine. I don't think China would have any issues on any platforms.

Never been to China but I hear it is largely up to the State/ISP what they will allow through the firewall.

A good paid VPN service might be the solution if things are blocked. Most let you mask traffic as encrypted SH or SSL, and even have alternate port options which should work to get around most filter/throttling.

In my experience in Shanghai and Shenzhen, it was impossible to connect to the ESO forum, www.elderscrollsonline.com and Bethesda.net. The sites were not blocked, rather it appeared to have something to do with the captcha system not loading. Tried connecting at various locations and with various browsers and providers.

I imagine this would present a problem for anyone attempting to access the account page.

The botters and gold sellers don't seem to have a problem connecting from China. You might want to ask them...

PC EU works as well from Beijing - did not try it from somewhere else though.

as an update - my Guildie connects fine. had the occasional blip, a week of disconnecteds and slow patch downloads but is getting on and gaming

I don't have any issues in China on PC/NA. There's 2 things I seem to require a VPN for, first being pressing "Insightful" "Agree" or "Awesome" on a post, and second being quoting someone without having to go to a seperate page. I'm not sure how it is on XBOX, unfortunately.

Where in China? If southern like Guangdong province and he has the ability to take a day trip to Hong Kong, he may be able to get it there if he has the ability to leave PRC.
