Defending is a very viable trait in PVP. I actually go one Sharp axe, 1 Defending dagger in PVP and love it. I also usually run a defending bow on my back bar, as I dont have a sharpened VMA bow (only precise/nirn/defending).

That being said, it's obviously not more damage. If max damage is the goal, sharpened is king. That always holds true for a PVE DPS, but not necessarily true in PVP as a lot of people place survivability over damage.

Well that is your first issue. You can't do heals and dps at the same time. Unless you are talking about having a full dps set and skill setup and a healing setup. Otherwise you heal, or heal, and don't bother dpsing really.

Honestly, you arent the first or last to mention it. I loathe the idea of nerfing things as a solution, but it might just be the best option here. Really, there are 3 DPS traits: Sharpened, Precise, Nirnhoned.

For a good long time people would suggest that sharp was better at high level PVP, Precise was better at High level PVE, and Nirn was specifically better for a few builds, especially magic. They then reorganized and revamped the traits.

What we are left with is that sharpened is simply the best across the board. There is no tradeoff, no meaningful choice, simply one best option, all the time, everywhere. IMO, that is a classic sign of imbalance or that something is "OP."

Newsflash, sharpened is OP when compared to other options. The only options as I see it are to buff precise and nirn, or nerf sharpened (or some combo). I would personally like to get to a point where Sharp is best PVP, Precise is best PVE, and Nirn is second place for both (the jack of all trades). It seems to make the most sense. One simple way to do this would be to buff the damage on nirn, and have Precise function like the shadow mundus. Have it buff crit damage, rather then crit % (not my original idea, but cant remember whom to give credit to).

Or they could do the real smart thing and give us a meaningful way to progress our gear, i.e. #TRAITCHANGE. Dont make it cheap or easy, but make it possible.
