TBS as a tanking set

How does TBS compare with sets such as Tava's for tanking?
Another day, another deathtrap.

There is nothing to compare. TBS might give more resources or regen or a very stupid way to get resistance but it can't be compared to Tavas in generating buffs for the team. TBS can only help you but Tavas helps the whole team.

I think the only reason TBS is good, is because of the thief and shadow combo.

For e.g - if you wanted to get magicka recovery and max health for your mundus stones, using TBS as a tank, you could really just use a heavy set of Kagrenacs hope. Or if you were looking for physical and spell resist, you could just use Song of Lamae. Not that I recommend any of these sets, but it would simply be pointless, because even the above sets offer more than that, plus you could still have a mundus to help you further.

Especially because as a tank, you do [as paulsimonps mentioned above] want to support your group as much as possible, and unfortunately no mundus stones will offer this, nor does TBS.

I thought about this just before Tava's dropped . I was thinking about Atronach + Tower for abusing Helping Hands passive . Now , I run tavas and do more warhorns which resulted in much better sustain than I could ever get with TBS . Not even mentioning the insane amount of DPS increase I give to group .

If you strictly want regeneration you can pick Willow's Path for both magicka and stamina, or Armor of the Seducer just for Magicka.

I use it on my blazing shield tank. Works great. I tank norm trials no problem. I wear blood spawn and use heroic slash for ultimate regen.

You can probably tank normal trials in all light armor I would use that as a good measuring stock of whether or not its a good tank set or not. Veteran trials or nothing. And most end game tanks use tavas in combination with bloodspawn, and basically every tank in the game uses heroic slash. But all that with Tavas makes it so you can pop out a warhorn basically every 50s or sometimes even faster.

The problem I see with the combination of Tava's Favor and Bloodspawn are that one procs on dodges while the other procs on hits. So you get less chances for Bloodspawn to proc for 15 ult (the proc rate is actually small at just 6%) for a 20% chance to proc for 9 ult every 6s. Has anyone actually tested to see if there is a net gain or net loss of ultimate, depending on scenario? Heroic slash and heavy hits are a more predictable ult gain mechanism. I use Willow's Path (no ult gain but stronger regeneration) with Bloodspawn and get a War Horn every 45-50s anyway. For example in a typical Kenna hard mode fight I have one at each phase. Thus, I suspect that the net effect, if it's positive, it's very small.

While running tava bloodspawn etc is best for trials, I have completed everything in game including vmol on a templar tank in tbs/bloodspawn, it's a very flexible set, imho the most flexible in game, but def not bis for a competitive trials group.
