How do you get it? I see people with metal plating etc on their mounts but mine are all bare.

Comes from leveling the riding skills. Cannot remember which level is starts showing though.

If you go to any stable that sells horses, you can also buy horse training once every 20 hours.

The armor appears after you have trained stamina at least 20 times.
Storage training gives saddle bags at 20,and Speed training shows... I don't know what you would call it but on horses it's the crisscross of leather strips behind the saddle.

Well i have 30 in speed and 20 in carry but still nothing

Go to the game settings and unhide them. If you're looking for the face plate, you need 20 stamina.

settings, gameplay, hide mount stamina/speed/etc upgrades (would be armor, bags, leg wraps and such on your mount, uncheck the 'hide' option and they will re-appear.)

I wish they would re-style the horse armor. It was the first in the game and done poorly (along with the saddlebags). Every mount that came afterwards had really well made armor and saddlebags. It would also be nice to be able to dye our mount accessories so they match our gear.
