Did I hear Restyling?
Restyling!! Tired of that old look? Try a new look! Try 12 new looks! Can't stand that your favorite armor set only comes in the Dunmer Heavy motif? Restyling!! Just click on your vanity tab, select the style, level, and weight you want your armor to look like, and you're good! Warning: must know the motif you wish to convert the item into. Warning: may increase Crown Store motif sales and player happiness.

Maybe it could be a perk of knowing nine traits in that certain piece or maybe do it via findin a special type of material in game .
I know I can't be the only one that wishes he could turn his Argonian set pieces into something a little less feathery. Please consider for a future update @ZOS_GinaBruno
I totally support this idea. I think there are a lot of different ways they could go about it, but my friends and I discuss how we wish this was doable pretty frequently. Two of my favorites ideas for implementation include:
1. Consuming a handful of style materials to convert it at a standard crafting station (i.e. x10 Molybdenum if one wishes to convert to Breton).
2. Having a uniquely rare crafting component that enables a style re-roll upon consumption. For example, we have Perfect Roe which allows for special provisioning recipes. Perhaps obtaining a single of these materials allows one to re-roll a single item into a different style already known by the crafter.
The main thing I want to see if this is introduced is an ability to change gear at legendary quality. I know I'm not the only one who spends vast amounts of time and gold putting together sets for multiple characters, and while we can always earn more gold, we don't always change the gear we use. If we only ever used purple gear, this wouldn't be as big of a deal imho. But, since we can't easily or cost-effectively change the style of our armor, doing so is inherently a huge cost. This is even more pronounced when we look at BiS dropped gear in undesirable or outdated styles (some of the first sets that come to mind are DSA, AA, and HRC drops which are of the original 9 styles, i.e. Nord, Orc, High Elf, etc) and can't even be converted to Imperial, let alone some of the newer and cooler styles.
This is a thing that 100% needs to be done. Why would ZOS waste their money on artists to make all of these new motifs, if all of the best end game gear is dropped and not crafted in the first place?
ZOS: "Hey guys, look we have 30 new motifs coming out with the next patch!!!!!"
Me: "Ok... I don't really care, I'm not crafting gear anyway."
While we're at it, can we get our 2nd shoulder artwork for the Monster set shoulders? It really bothers me that only one of my shoulders are covered.

I'm afraid it'll never happen because it would hurt costume sales.

No it won't. Costumes are great on their own and, especially after Costume Dyeing, provide a great opportunity to try out a new aesthetic. Even with restyling, I'm gonna be all over my costumes and all over any new ones that come to the Crown Store.

So because it wouldn't stop you from buying costumes, then it wouldn't stop anybody from buying them? Everyone's the same now? Hmmm... I guess I wasn't informed on this.

Of course not, but you're acting like it's fact that there will be a significant, or even any dip in costume sales. You're also not allowing for some kind of monetization of a restyling system. There's tons of ways to not only negate any potential loss of costume sales (if any), but to turn it around and make an even larger profit off of a restyling system.

Well let's not confuse my stance on this, I am 100% for being able to change the style of your armor. As for "acting like it's fact" I said "I'm afraid it won't happen", meaning I wish it would, contrary to my belief (opinion). I do agree with you on if it would be implemented, it would be through the crown store.
