DK Tank build??

So I want to spend my magic dk into a tank, what would be best option for gear ? Tavas 5 piece with something ??

Not really tanked before or looked into the gear needed so help would be appreciated :)

    No offense but I don't see all the rage about tavas. I roll 5 piece footman 5 piece hist bark and 2 bloods pawn.

    None taken lol I don't even have a tank setup built yet, I am just looking for ideas for a build I can put together so I can have my main character feeling useful again!

    This is a oak tree build with a little group buff cause of bloods pawn you will always be the last man standing i promise with lots of mitigation so stam is never an issue.

    Footman is an effective 2% mitigation increase at most if you've done your homework. Check out @paulsimonps ' details on the matter below:
    I have theorycrafted the S out of Mitigation. Footman is one of THE most overrated tanking sets in the game. Diminishing returns on Mitigation is a big deal and adding 8% mitigation for a 5p Bonus is not worth it AT ALL. Much more useful to get something else. Let me explain.

    Blocking is 50% everyone has that. Sword and Board passive is another 20% and most tanks are DKs so another 10% there. Almost all tanks use Defensive posture so another 8% there. We almost all also use Minor maim in one form or another, that's another 15%. Hard capped resistance is another 50% and then say we got 53p into elemental defender and Hardy thats 16% there. So we take all of that and we get:

    100-(0.5*0.8*0.9*0.92*0.85*0.5*0.84)*100=88.17616

    So that's 88.17% Total damage mitigation. Now say we add Footman to that at the end.

    100-(0.5*0.8*0.9*0.92*0.85*0.5*0.84*0.92)*100= 89.1220672

    We get 89.12% so we got an increase of 0.94 So we got less than 1% more total mitigation from a fricking 5 piece bonus?? Not worth it in my book.

    Tava is used because your job as a tank isn't just to stay alive, but to support your allies. More ultimate generation allows for more warhorn uptime, which means much more damage for the entire group, as well as more survivability thanks to the extra health.

    Thanks for the quote ; ) And yea for OP, the meta right now as far as I know is 5 Tavas 5 Alkosh and 2 Bloodspawn to get the Max out of your buffs/debuffs. If you want to chose one of those sets Alkosh is the most powerful of them all in my opinion. With 2 Tanks and 2 Healers in most trials these days you have plenty of Warhorns to go around having them be faster is better still of course to increase the up time on the Major Force for the extra Crit Damage but still you can do more damage still with the Alkosh's Resistance debuff on the targets.

    I myself use Alkosh Hist Bark and Engine Guardian and I know its not a popular set with End Game tanks but I like my dwemer sphere and hey I have tanked vet Maw multiple times and even done a vet maw speed run so can't be all that bad huh?

    Also just want to reinforce one thing. FOOTMAN SUCKS, A LOT!!!!
