Should CP cap increases be delayed for console?

They have all the numbers on people's progression and have decided it is okay to raise cap again. They have a catch up mechanism in place for people that do want to catch up. I think it is fine to raise cap again.

The game has been out over a year longer on PC, so I can understand that a lot of the population is at or near the cap, and I assume the data on PC suggests that an increase is needed.

Playing on PS4 NA, however, I see that the majority of the player base is not even close to cap!

There is already an incredible imbalance on console Pvp... This is only going to add to it.

In my opinion I just don't think the overall console player base is ready for these jumps in power.

For the sake of keeping any kind of competitiveness in 'vet level' PVP, the cap should be delayed by quite a long time on console.

Nope. I'm good for the next few updates so keep it coming. Make me stronger. Tbf I've maxed out thr most useful of the cp trees anyway do anymore makes very very little difference.

I started a little bit after console launch and I quit for a few months in the middle and I'm still almost at the cap.

You can easily get like 2 cp a day at higher levels, not even talking about the low levels.

    Its very doable

Pc had a few months more with cp, not an entire year.

I'm at 600, i've played since console release.

Cap was never increased for 6 months, no they shouldn't delay it.

If people with low cp wanna play go to the no cp campaign.

They can still do 99% of the content with low cp.

It's 31 per 3 months, which is 10 per month or 2.5 per week, and thats not exactly so it's more like 2 per week.

2 cp per week, if people aren't getting higher than this then they are infact a super casual and the game should no be catered to them because they likely won't be around for long.

IDK, I don't have the numbers that ZOS has, but my personal, totally subjective observation in my guilds, in the PUGs I run and the crowd I see in my main hub city places the majority of players in the 200-300 CP bracket (PS4/EU).

Not everyone likes to mindlessly grind CP's and many people enjoy creating adds, meaning no CP gain.

I think it's to early to raise the cap again, even if it's only 60 points.

I guess I dont get the logic, for all the hard core players on this thread with 600+ CP moaning about the 'casual minions' playing the game how they want and only having 200CP why do you want to whoop them even more? What's with the power obsession?

So you can just grind MORE CP even faster as don't et gets easier? Get to 1000CP and still be frustrated that the cap is still only 600? maybe CP should stop progressing at cap, to stop the missing out syndrome, you have it all already peeps!!

Lol on the comments about it not being only casuals, then referencing the 4th or 5th play through of Cadwells, that's hardly casual! Or the 'just do the dailies' comments or the Random Dungeon a day comments. Daily gameplay is hardly casual!!!!!!

So most will be at or near cap by next patch. So yes, keep putting it up.

From what I've seen on the catch up mechanic getting the last point to hit cap takes about 440k exp. Assuming going from 501-531 or 531-561 there's not much exp difference between the start of the range and the end means in the worst case scenario of you get to cap just as its raised means you would need to get 13.2m exp to get 30CP before the next cap increase as if you can't do that you'll never be able to get to cap. Assuming the cap is increased by 30 every 3 months would mean you need 4.4m exp per month, with enlightenment this becomes 1.1m exp per month or about 250k exp per week. 1 random dungeon would give you 100k so doing that and a few of the repeatable quests would easily give enough experience to be slowly catching up. All but the very most casual of casual players should be able to get 250k experience per week.

OP says the game on consoles is imbalanced. I can only take this to mean there are players that have earned much more CP than others.

Reality is some players play more than others. Some players do not play as much and others are newer. They should not drag down the whole.

I left the game for 6 months and am now well past the CP cap.

At that, the CP sytem was flawed when it was launched heavily in favor of those who played more. Zos admitted as much when they scaled XP per point based on how much CP one already had.

This really isn't enough. A friend has suggested that enlightenment also be scaled based on how many CP one has. At or near cap it would be just as it is now. A new player, once reaching lvl 50 would get 8x enlightenment and gradually reduced as they gained more and was closer to the cap. This would help newer and more casual players catch up.

If the game catered to casuals the CP count would be 200

    What's your point?

Play the game thatd mu point. You dont earn CP by roleplaying and sitting at mournhold chatting all day. And @ me of you wanna reply to someone

The easiest way I have found to get CP is to join a group in PVP and just do bounty quests. If there is some big battles you can fill those in a matter of minutes! I think you earn around 70k xp for each one.

As far as balance goes: Thats tough. Regular players have more CP earned and want to use them. New players will be somewhat behind.
I think the enlightened periods could be extended more for the casuals who play less hours. And the XP increased for the regulars to slow the rate at which CP's are earned.

But overall I think there is more to playing this game than just getting a bunch of CP's and thinking that will make you good. There is an advantage to having more of them. but if you don't know what to do with them they are pretty much worthless. Learning how to use the CP to benefit your build and play style is the key.

This game needs to stop catering towards casuals, I have been playing since launch and the grind which was nessesary for each verteran rank and each CP was mind numbing. After the launch of ICP I took a break with 200+ CP and 3 v14 characters.

Icame back to orsinium update where the catch up system was implemented and to be honest my mind was blown how easy it is to get cp.

The rate that ZOS increases to cp rank since capping it is slow and unfair to veteran players. I have a lot of friends leaving the game due to being a lack of progression and their hard work not bearing any rewards.

I think there should be a capped cp 300 campaign but other than that the CP caps need to go up faster and in larger quantities giving players a goal to work towards

Are people forgetting this is an mmo? The whining from those under cap of "it's too hard, unfair, takes too long" while they're trying to have rap battles all day in Riften makes me cringe.
I do, however, feel bad for those who go to play in Azura's only to find out it's a desolate wasteland.

    @Burning_Talons

I get that. Play more. Sure.

But that doesn't solve any problems with imbalance and a dying Pvp population.

Just to clarify, I don't have a problem with CP personally. I play enough, and the catch up is fine for me.

My concern is for the population of the game. It doesn't matter how much I play this game. Or how powerful I become, if there is nobody left to fight. One Tamriel is coming. What do you think that says about the state of the game?

Population is dying. If you love this game like I do, you need to help protect it. Or it will go away.

Most of the guys posting here don't seem to have the foresight to understand that. They just talk about wanting more "power". It seems very selfish and narsistic to me.

Not everyone has the time or interest to grind or play enough PVE to become viable in Pvp. It cripples a large portion of the player base, thus reducing the player base, and I just don't see the value in that. In the long run, imbalance is bad for EVERYONE.

I played since launch, and if you were there you will remember how much fun it was with full campaigns and there were raids all over the map. Because most people (aside from the PC transfers) were close to the same power level, the fights were more competitive and more about skill and coordination than just blasting people less powerful than yourself.

As time progresses, people who played more, became very powerful. Before battle leveling came in vet servers, people were quitting due to power imbalance, and the daunting grind.

If the cap goes up too quickly, those same types of players who have hung on this long, or are new to the game will end up giving up on Pvp and we will have nobody to fight.

For the most part, people can't be *** grinding.

Also, we both know Azura is not a viable option. The reason nobody goes there is because this game is balanced around CP combat. So Azura is slow and boring as a result.

I suggested this last year in someone else's thread, but they need to have a tiered CP campaign. Because of the way the game is balanced, the non CP campaign just doesn't work.

My suggestion is remove the Non CP campaign and make it a 300 CP capped Pvp campaign.

Everything else can stay the same. Cap keeps going up. Elites can battle elites. Lowbies can battle Lowbies. Would that be an ok solution?

Then people still get their CP and same gameplay balances, but they can also bridge the gap to true end game Pvp.

Yes this is an MMO and there should be an element of grinding for power, but it's also an Elder Scrolls game. People come here to enjoy the world, and immerse themselves in PVE. People should be able to play at their own pace, and then go and enjoy Pvp at a level that is competitive for all players, without sacrificing the gameplay.

    Currently, that option doesn't exist.

As people who love to play this game, the needs of the entire population should be the concern of our efforts.

@Beardimus Thanks man. I knew the response would be mostly negative in the forums from guys who play a lot. It's a shame. People can't see the big picture.

I really enjoy this game. I've watched it become smaller and smaller and I don't want it to die.

@SourishWhale It's not a matter of not seeing the big picture. Whether or not it's "right", CP are here to stay; the system has already been implemented and there appears to be no going back.

The population isn't leaving because of CP, they're leaving because there is a ton of RNG in the game, because when one thing gets "fixed" five more end up broken, because balance has been iffy at best, because issues that have been broken for months STILL aren't fixed, and because sometimes people just get bored with games and move on to new ones. And for those that leave because they're behind the cap? You can do pretty much anything in this game without 531 cp. Not everything can be handed to you, all of us have put in time to get to where we're at.

If the cp cap doesn't keep increasing, or worse-it decreases, then a lot of dedicated players WILL get fed up and leave. It's not that we're power-hungry. As @xskinzcity mentioned, most of us have more cp than we need for our builds. We just like feeling some sort of progression and don't appreciate when low-cp players whine but don't do anything to change their situation.

I am all for extra pvp campaigns, but Azura's isn't desolate because it's "boring"; it's just because it's constantly a buff campaign and a lot of people are afraid to play without cp. And it doesn't help that it's a 30 day campaign either. I'd be quite surprised if upping it to 300 cp changed much, and you'd be ruining it for some by restricting/locking out the few maxed out players who prefer to play there.

If CP were suddenly eliminated tomorrow, and some new system was implemented, I can guarantee the people complaining now would still find something that "isn't fair" to complain about.

Again, this is an mmo. Getting to an end-game competitive level is not realistic for everyone.
