Should CP cap increases be delayed for console?

The game has been out over a year longer on PC, so I can understand that a lot of the population is at or near the cap, and I assume the data on PC suggests that an increase is needed.

Playing on PS4 NA, however, I see that the majority of the player base is not even close to cap!

There is already an incredible imbalance on console Pvp... This is only going to add to it.

In my opinion I just don't think the overall console player base is ready for these jumps in power.

For the sake of keeping any kind of competitiveness in 'vet level' PVP, the cap should be delayed by quite a long time on console.

**Edit;

I am near the cap. I'm not 'lazy' or 'whining rather than playing'. I play the game more than enough.. My concern is for the player base as a whole.

Population is dwindling. People want to play at their own pace (Hardcore or Casual, whichever you prefer) and we need to cater to both parties.

If population continues to drop off to the point that the game isn't sustainable financially, the game dies.

If people quit because they cant enjoy PVP, we all suffer.

I personally don't see the point in having CP in the game at all. But many people do, so I don't have a problem with keeping it.

After giving it some thought, my suggestion would be to continue to raise the cap as it has been planned so those of us who play a lot don't feel hindered.

Then I would change Azura from a non CP campaign to a 300CP capped campaign.

From my own opinion, and people I speak with, the reason nobody plays Azura is because the combat sucks.

The game is balanced around CP combat, so the non CP campaign falls short in so many ways.

Give it a cap so people can still enjoy CP combat, but also keep it competitive for players of all interests and time commitments.

console player, started playing at xbox release

I have over 700CP, all of which i have earned from questing, pvping, dungeoning, trialing & to a small extent crafting (writs)

and my CP level is considered low by a lot of people i know who grinded CP's before the cap was introduced

No. I took a break from this game when ic dropped, came back just before thieves guild launched. I was vet 6 with under 200cp, now i have 520 cp. I can't wait for update 12, my build will be complete when it drops.

It's so easy to level up now, craft some training gear, make it purple and go grind.

I know you guys post in here regularly, and play a lot. I'm not worried about people who are willing to grind to catch up etc. I'm one of those people and it doesn't bother me.

What I am worried about is people continuing to leave the game because they can't compete with the likes of you.

This game used to be loaded with players.

If the power curve continues to grow, there won't be anyone left to fight lol

This may or may not seem relevant, but I've noticed that a lot of new eso players are instantly grinding their characters to 50, rather than taking the time to do the quests in each zone like I did back in Sept 2015.

I feel this might be a result of the pressure to catch up. Going from 1 to cp 500+ must be daunting.

Or maybe it's because we have done the quests once already when leveling our first toons and there is absolutely little reason for most to do the questing all over again. It is dull and tedious and offers very little on repetitive playthroughs. I don't fault ya if you enjoy the questing. I enjoyed it once. No need to do it all over again.

I must play too much, on PS4 with 545 CP and still clocking up about 4-5 CP a week without even trying. With changes tp CP leveling and introduction of accelerated XP gains, CP are easy to accumulate.

I still think that after so long with a 501 cap in the game, it is a pretty radical idea to increase it twice in 3 months.

@Refuse2GrowUp Ohh me too. On a different topic, I would be in favor of account-wide achievements. It sucks repeating quests you've already done on multiple characters (unless they are good ones).

But think about the brand new player. They're not even doing the quests once. They're just rushing straight to Wrothgar or IC, wherever they decide to grind.

Nahhh I just think they started the story line and realized it sucks so instead decided to skip it.I don't think its player thinking they have to grind to compete or they just want to level to play with friends who already picked up the game.

Why it should be delayed with major update it should be increased. Its only by 31 CP and still 2 months ahead.

Instead of leveling up, such threads are being created by lazy bones..

I've also been playing since console release and don't focus THAT much on leveling and yet I have 413 CPs with 6 Lv50s, a 38, and a 35. Those with less CP than I are most likely people that have not been playing since release or spend little time playing and advancing.

I've been in normal raids (easy peasy) where there's been times the leaders try kicking 160-400cp players but I like helping the little guy so normally I leave with them or the obnoxious "leader" let's them stay when reasoned with.

On a more negative note I noticed many times the lower CP players feel entitled. Such as they ask for 1000s of gold for free, want free gear, expect you to bend over backwards and not a please or thank you.

There's some elitist CP players but normally high CP ppl are quite helpful.

I started playing in December, and have 472 CP. I was on track to have around 500 by the drop of Shadows of the Hist, but have been playing sporadically recently due to some health issues.

My usual schedule, before I had to take a step back, was generally playing 3-4 hours a night, 6 days a week. I don't often use xp potions or training gear (although I do like running a random dungeon on occasion), and I did questing rather than grinding. While I have 8 characters, only 2 are champion level with the other 6 being levels 14 and below. I spend most of my time playing one of those champion characters, because she is my first and my favorite.

So it takes about a year to get max CP if you play semi-casually like I do.

I agree with you OP, and heard Guild mates say it already. 'what another rise' and shoulder slump. Not everyone can play daily, not Everyone grinds. The pace the game moves can be too much for the semi casuals, pace of DLC etc. Gear cap moving to 180 will also throw alot of people off that I know, that have just scraped gold upgrades together over months

I get that the more heavy players want progression. But surely that cap move to those on 6-700 is just making the game easier. Unsure if that's a good thing. Every patch the game content is getting easier, leveling is easier, crafting is easier

Do people with 531CP suffer right now? I think not.

Grinding wrecks the game for so many people. They get bored of smashing easy content mindlessly just to level. Enjoying the richness of the game offers better longevity, but the forum is full of more serious players so you are gunna get shot down @SourishWhale

This isn't even a casual thing as most people are going. (Though it's telling that so many people are so quick to rag on casuals. Jesus, guys, calm the *** down.)

Why delay it? S'not really even an issue, the gear cap is not that high, minor build ajustments for low CP can be made...it's not an issue. Flat out, not an issue.

If someone makes maybe a few characters, and they probably will, and go through cadwells silver and gold (Which is...not very fun the 4th or 5th time around, I know) you'll catch up. Or even just does dailies every day like I do. It goes by quicker than many people think.

If the gear cap was set much higher it'd be an issue but it's reeeeallly not.

It kind of is... The game is balanced around CP gameplay right? The non CP campaigns are an after thought, and the resulting gameplay is quite slow and boring.

I can't remember the exact patch, but back when they first started playing with battle leveling for Vet Cp servers, I was playing my third BWB alt and I remember BWB turned to *** when they first did it. Gameplay was very dull after that.

I remember a build that could take on six players in BWB with no CP before that patch, suddenly would be out of resources halfway through the second player lol

If non cp campaigns performed like soft cap did (with appropriate balances) I'm sure it would be very popular.

there are mnay reasons why someone may be skipping the quests, and of course a small proportion will be doing it because they feel the need to grind up to 50 & then grind 531 CP.

but others will skip the quests because they dont like doing them

others will skip the quests cause they are leveling an alt,

others will skip the quests cause of RP reasons

others may go straight to wrothgar/hews bane/gold coast because they bought the game to play that specific DLC and have zero interest in any other aspect of the game

others will skip the quests cause they are only interested in PVP or the sewers and just want to get to lvl 10 as fast as possible

some of the new players may be skipping the quests for now, with the intention of doing them once one tamriel drops, so they can play with the max level friends (and their friends on different alliances) that they joined the game to play with

none of us know why the low levels are skipping the quests unless we ask them all!

i am not volunteering to ask every low level on xbox EU why they are skipping quests, i am simply saying that it is wrong assuming that every level 3 who heads strait to a dlc grind spot feel pressured to do so by the champion point system!

Seriously I run a silver dungeon 1-2 cp at cap. Do a quest I get cp. Run maelstrom win or lose 1-3 cp. Spend more time playing eso than loitering in town buying and selling go pvp and stop quitting after your first death...

We don't need a delay its fin infact I'd love it to be jumped to about 600ish
