Maintenance for the week of April 6:
• [COMPLETE] ESO Store and Account System for maintenance – April 8, 9:00AM EDT (13:00 UTC) - 6:00PM EDT (22:00 UTC)

why are maintenances getting so long?

maintenance used to last from 8-10, then it got boosted to 8-11 and now its 6- 13 or later. this is getting to point of unacceptability. i get feeling they got rid of 90% of thier maintenance team and now we are suffering 7 hour long maintenances when they used to only be 2-3 hours.

Guessing it's cause more customers require more servers (machines) and so to maintain them, it just takes longer as I doubt they've hired more humans to maintain them as many issues still exist.

actually there are less players active now then at launch, and maintenance first year was 1-3 hours depending on what was being done (3 hours was addition of new content) if anything there is fewer machines to maintain.

How did you gather that there's less active players on PC now than before?
How also did you gather that there are fewer machines?

The quick non-tech answer: They keep adding more content, so there's more to fix. These guys have big job and I can imagine it's very tough just to keep up, cause I used to be a programmer and know full well, the minute you add another feature somewhere, odds are, it's going to break something somewhere else.

    Good question...

I usually rant and make fun about it but even this starts to get boring.

Probably there are 3 IT apprentices who have to do the maintenance and they play Windows Minessweeper instead.

guess you havent played game since launch. when eso first came out, there was over double the pvp campaigns, with 3 campaigns running max pop most of the day. now we are down to 2 campaigns with any decent population during prime time hours and 1 with a decent pop in nonprime time. the actions zos has taken with tamriel unlimited or whatever they calling it, also points to a decrease population in game.

dude there are games that been out for 7 years have way more content this this game and they have not changed the general maintenance times since start of the game. this is the only game i know of that over course of 2 years has increased the time it takes to do general maintenance. this is a general maintenance meaning all they are doing is pushing out a software patch for issues (coding is already done and tested on thier test server and now they push to main servers and do a quick test to ensure no issues as well as do physical maintenance such as integrity checks on equipment. there is zero reason for maintenance to be this long on a general maintenance unless they trying to save money by not maintaining the necessary number of technicians to do the job in a timely manner. which all points to zos not making money which points to game potentially in trouble in near future. this also goes hand in hand with the fact that the last dlc was expensive in light of what was added and the fact they still have not given players all of the original content that players pay for when they buy the vanilla game. (vanilla game {vanilla being base game even before craglorn} includes 15 alliance zones + coldharbor and cyrodil with each alliance zone and coldharbor having each a groiup dungeon that has a nonvet and a vet mode) this is something that we have not been given, and considering how zos is getting lazy with new group dungeons... tells me they will never release the vet dungeons for all the alliance and coldharbor zones that are not done yet.
