Best Restro Staff Skill to Use?

I have several mage builds that I like to run with a Destro staff for DPS and use a Restro staff for self / group heals (or be a backup healer in group content). I have a DK Mage, NB Mage, s Sorc (Pet and DPS versions). What is the best Restro staff skill to use to be a healer? for speed, amount heal, magicka cost, etc

Combat Prayer (directed AOE Burst heal that increases the damage of your group by 8% through minor Berserk, which is exceedingly rare) and Mutagen (low cost; low maintenance; allows you to the time to DPS due to the emergency heal effect)

Agreed, however for larger group content such as trials I'd highly recommend healing springs as well.

Use Retro staff like a real gentleman.

In terms of pure healing, it's probably the best. And it's the only other Restro skill I'll slot unless I have to coddle
    someone with healing ward. Lol

I use healing ward when I am backing up the main healer and when I am out of range of the main healer.

As main healer with Socr, pet for BoL type heal , Mutagen, Combat/Healing springs (depends on the group and content)

They are the first 3 skills, Healing springs is the first one's morph, Mutagen the second, and Combat Prayer the third.

I've actually done this and didn't even tell the "DPS" what I was doing. LOL

I've also used it when we ran content without a tank, to allow the DPS to perform the role better.

Just sucks to have to slot it on both bars.

Healing skills are situational so what is the "best" for one situation isn't the best for another.

Combat prayer, healing springs, rapid regen or mutagen and BoL (Templar) are all great heals. If your not a Templar I'd suggest mutagen over rapid regen.

combat prayer is kinda annoying though when you're moving coz animation makes the character stop moving for a second...

i'm sure this isn't intented but i doubt it will get fixed any time soon.

My main char is a templar healer, but I am mainly thinking what skills I can use for my alts who are not templars. They are mages too.

For a DK, you can buff your heals with Igneous shield while simultaneously granting everyone in range a damage shield.

Some DK healers use the Trinimac set as a result.

    Avoid Cauterize, it's worthless

The stone fist morph is kind of cool though. it's a knockdown that burst heals the nearest ally to your target. Mine Crit heals for
11K. Usually shouldn't be slotted though, because it's really not substantial enough at increasing DPS, however, Standard
of Might should always be slotted. Combat Prayer will be your burst heal. Healing Springs your stackable DOT, and Mutagen
or healing ward your insurance policy.

Standard would not be the go to ultimate for a dk healer. Magma shell and barrier would be the better choices. I'm thinking vet trial heals, not the simple 4 man dungeons.

If you meant for personal use, I'd say either: Mutagen and or Healing Ward. Both being absolutely fantastic skills, and with a Maelstrom Reatoration Staff — you receive magicka back by using Mutagen/Rapid Regeneration.

I haven't run trials as a healer, only vet dungeons, but why would you use Magma shell, when that group utility plus
increased healing can come from a non ultimate skill i.e. Bone Surge? Just curious. Either myself or my tank usually
run it. While I run Standard and Warhorn or Shooting Star for Ultimate.

If you are looking for max heals on a group, its Healing Springs.

If you are looking for a passive heal for a little extra protection, its Rapid Regen.

If you are looking for an Oh Crap button, it's Hardened Ward.

If you are looking for a way to buff your group DPS while providing heals, it's Combat Prayer.

I dont think you should run a resto staff in group play unless you are the dedicated healer. If you are set on it, Combat prayer is the most useful to your group, unless you are running with Nightblades. The buff is the same they get from grim focus, and it does not stack. Healing Ward is also a solid choice, especially if you are going without a true healer.

Thanks all for the tips. I am thinking of heals for solo and group play for my alts. My alt builds are hybrids of a healer / buffer (2nd bar) and a DPS (as for 1st main bar).

Solo: Healing ward is the only one you need

Group: Combat prayer and Healing ward are must have. For your healing over time skill, it will depend of the dungeon. In large dungeons, I'd suggest rapid regeneration. In narrower dungeons, healing springs will do wonders.
