Off Healer - Damage Dealer + Utility + Buffs

I'm the healer generally, so I like being able to off-DPS to blow through it all more quickly. That's only for 4-man content.

Trials will have dedicated healers, and that's what fits best in there.

Full Healer - Utility + Buffs + Debuffs

Depends on the content. On anything difficult, its faster to go full heals with proper buffs/debuffs. If you are burning through normal or old vet dungeons, then you dont need support. Most older vet dungeons can be 3-manned with straight DPS in about 15 minutes or less.

Debuffs should be the tank's job and assuming everybody does their job right, the healer should have time to help with the dps.

As a PvPer, I just want one who can keep my group standing and rez us quickly when needed. Don't really care about the bells and whistles, just that they do their job.

Full Healer - Utility + Buffs + Debuffs

Really depends on content and class.

I mostly do trials these days, and healers there have a full-time job refreshing Elemental Drain and Siphon spirit, throwing shards, using repentance and orbs, putting down preemptive HoTs, casting Springs, generating ultimate, using Warhorn, casting a few Combat Prayers for more damage, keeping spell power cure up, standing out of red and casting a few burst healz to keep the tank alive.

On 4-men content, you can definitely spend time contributing to damage, since you are, after all, 25% of the group on your own (which doesn't mean letting your allies die of course...).

I prefer a full Healing build, although I don't tend to use the destruction staff debuff. . .

I just can't seem to complete vMSA without completely changing my toon around

When I watch vet maw clears the healer has points where he spams dark flare.

Knowing where to dps and where to heal will make or break any healer!

My healer has SPC/Ather. I tend to focus on debuffing the boss, keeping SPC and Ather active and stunning any troublesome adds. Our tanks tend to be able to look after themselves but I'm always ready with the odd shard.

I kinda look for the same when I'm not healing.

The one being a templar and using mystic orbs (reasonably and not 20 in a row...), elemental drain/siphon spirit, combat prayer, spell power cure.
And not dying too often.

I'm a templar healer and i like to put purifying light on the main target and help dps ing. So tank can be healed and i can do dps as much as i can. Not to forget, i do have BOL emergency button and full healing and support ability on my back bar.

Its very situational. In pvp when ur allies hp drops fast, there is no time to dps. U stop healing for a moment and they go down like a sack of ***

In trials, full on healing, buffing, debuffing.

Dungeons, get the hots rolling, then dps as much as possible while not running out of magicka and refreshing hots when needed.
As a Templar I keep BoL and repentance on dps bar for the stamina sustain and emergency heal if I go a tad trigger happy...

In pugs I will stick to healing only for the first few pulls (few shards only) to evaluate the groups needs.

Full healer because my groups always have DW night blade tanks or some bs like that with not one taunt on their bar. >_>

Which is why I queue for heals on my DK if needed.

No Healer - Nothing to see here..

ideally, in 4 man content, a somewhat dedicated tank uses chains, a "healer" makes sure spellpower cure, combat prayer, and infaillable aether are up as buffs and does damage for the most time. healing is compensated by a magicka nb dd, the tank's vigor, or some comparable source. often templar dd's ritual can be enough, even for the two new dungeons

in general, though: whatever fits best into the current group. if no chains are needed, a tempalr heal+tank is always awesome. i hate leaving chains to DD's, though (outside trials ofc). such a big dps loss

I actually admire dedicated healers and when I get one in a PUG group it's a real relief.

I've always played as a DD, it's just my style and I'm not sure if I could be a healer, with the pressure of keeping people alive, especially if the rest of the group isn't up to much, not self-healing and whatnot.

tl:dr all you healers out there keep up the good work!

I think it depends... When I play healer with groups I don't know very well, or I know are likely to need lots of healing, I go full heal, but with friends that I play with regularly and people I know are not likely to need lots of healing, I dps and off heal, sometimes with friends we don't even have a specific role, and all just kill everything and help eachother out with a heal when it is needed, and then for those dungeons with my friends where a tank is needed, I tank/heal

when i heal i prefer to just heal, buff and debuff, boosting everyone elses damage usually trumps whatever meager damage i can put out.

hence why i run combat prayer and vulnerability poisons on my resto.
