I was hoping it would be a tiered Crown Store purchase with lots of customization options. Obviously the more customization you wanted, the more it would cost to store the data, so having some high-cap upgradable system seemed like a good idea. Thus, if you went to build your house, and you got the lowest-level grade, you would be given enough polygons/art assets/etc. to build a small shack, and the higher you went the better you could get. Then as far as building assets, you could use any art assets from the base game, plus any assets from the DLCs taht you own.
Unfortunately, based on what's currently in-game, it all looks like pre-made buildings. We'll see, though!

I'd like more options but I'm guessing it will be a crown store purchase. There's a small possibility we'll be able to buy a small house/shack for gold and then upgrade it with crowns. But I can't think that will be no investment using crown at all.
"We have found a cave, but I don't think there are warm fires and friendly faces inside."
I don't think it should be entirely free (non-crown store) as I'm sure there is a LOT of work involved. I think that you should be able to buy the house in the crown store, but furnishings should be in-game gold (and maybe extra rooms for crowns). As for quests, I just think that mementos from quests should be displayed. Maybe a quest for a secret room, like torture room for assassins and such, loot/treasure room for thieves... lots of possibilities.
But considering the new style parlour and character customisation being ALL crown store only, I'm afraid it will be the same for housing and all it's customisation/furnishings.
Also they should bring crafting into it. Woodworking for furniture. Clothier for blankets and drapes. Cooking and alchemy or growing plants. The expansion of crafting would generate more game time and more potential money for the company through the Crown Store (For the lazy or time pressured player).

At least most of the features relating to housing should be available without spending real money. I'm happy enough if a small amount of it is tied to the crown store though

It would be nice if different houses had different requirements.
For example, houses in DLC maps could be in-game purchases or awarded through quests since you already got the DLC (the house would become inaccessible if you stop subbing).
I imagine most if not all of it will be through the Crown Store, though, after seeing how they did it with the barbershop.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.
Meet my characters:
Command: Do the thing.
Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded. Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way. Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing. Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe. Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources. Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources". Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me. Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear. Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem. Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.
If it's crown store only or a recurring crown payment, I will not be an owner.
Quest / in game gold for purchase.
I would LOVE to see a crafting line (possibly an addition to woodworking) for furniture so it could be sold on the active market. It would be a huge boost to the in game economy and give long time crafters something to sell and trade.
There should be an option to use crown and use gold. Consider unlocking additional areas will and should be costly with gold making crown a good secondary option.
Additionally, an ESO+ discount or additional space an ESO+ member can unlock or get automatically would be good.
standard house in game gold, I hope they add drops for decorations in the world, want that palace on the hill over looking the peasants, crown store, some premium items in the crown store.
I would like to see quests related to housing, maybe that could be the way you get your first house, we need options and reasons to play the game, I was disappointed that the barber shop was 100% crown store, and I cross my fingers that housing will not be done the same way, this game needs a sandbox element like housing. If it turns to be another 100% crown store thing, just another thing I will not use.
The house itself shouldn't EVER be available for Crowns because ESO+ members will get them pretty much "for free". Of course, they pay, but the ESO+ already gives them things non-subscribers don't have or have to pay insane amounts of Crowns and even though they receive a good bunch of Crowns for free.
Crowns those that they can use to buy customizations for their homes just fine, but the house itself is a right everyone must have equally.
First the Crafting Bag, then the Race Change, now you want even the House? C'mon, stop being greedy with this pay-to-win bu**s**t
And before everyone quote me on that, having a house bought with Crowns IS pay-to-win because the most basic feature of House in a RPG is storage. If you have a house, you have more storage. If you don't, you're stuck with the tiny inventory you have, which means you can't carry much items, forcing you to be constantly going to a vendor, reducing the effective game time.
Or buy the also insanely expensive, relatively speaking, assistants.

I'm quite good at genetics (as a subset of biology) because I am an expert (which I know is a tautology).
My xenoscience studies range from urban to agrarian, I am the very model of a Scientist Salarian.
Lol whats with the fad of people thinking we would have to "rent" our houses... thats the dumbest thing i have heard and it would never happen... ( famous last words)
Not that every house needs to be available in a variety of ways, but give us the option to buy at least ONE with in game gold.
& We won't be able to live on a dlc map unless we OWN the dlc, right?
...so maybe those should be unlocked with quests?

Being one of those weirdo's who might not even indulge, I really dont care unless Zeni charges a absolute insane ammount of crowns for it and nothing else.
