Exactly same here.

I roleplay someone who doesn't roleplay.

I do occasional rp in my head but that's about it. I used to roleplay with people in other games actually meant for the type of rp you're speaking of but that was when I was an adolescent. I don't think I'll have enough imagination now to keep up with the professionals.

You want to know the stories Cyrodiil has to tell? They are all blank pages because the zone is mostly void of content. Barely even any chests to find. Oh sure there's the occasional dolmen, tiny town, ayleid ruin, monastery, tent etc. but the zone is empty. I don't even know if the delves have compelling stories.

Sort of.

All of my characters have a backstory, and I have an idea of what sort of person they are and that feeds into how I play them and the choices I make in quests. For example my dragon knight/crafter is a lot more impatient and more likely to charge into the middle of a fight than either of my templars. My Breton is calmer and more forgiving, but also more likely to get distracted and wander off to look at the scenery. She'd never admit it but getting murdered by the worm cult may have been the best thing that happened to her, it gave her the opportunity to break away from her oppressive family and forge her own path.

I also do little things like change my characters out of their armour when they're in town (something I've been doing since Morrowind), walk instead of run in busy areas (unless I'm in a hurry) and move around people who are standing on the path or coming towards me.

But I don't do what I think of as 'real' role-playing: acting out player created stories with a group of people. I'd love to, but I feel like that requires more of a commitment and more time than I can give to it. For it to work I'd have to be able to be online at regular times and meeting up with an established group of people and I just can't do that.

That's pretty much my position. Taking just a couple of my characters as examples, my Dark Elf dual-wielding nightblade assassin is undoubtedly a recruit for the Thieves Guild and the Dark Brotherhood, and can't help but "borrow" items from any container he finds even in a quest-givers home, whereas my Imperial sword and shield holy paladin templar wouldn't dream of engaging in any of those activities. As for actively role-playing with others in the game, however, that's not likely to happen.

ERP is all I do, since PvP is a joke and PvE is too easy
