I can see the benefits of doing both at the same time, from my limited experience of running web servers for my business, most of the time involved is in waiting for tasks to run and seeing if they produce any errors. If you are waiting on one server then may as well wait on the second. Why one would finish sooner than the other, who knows. Maybe the database for the US server is larger and takes longer to reindex all the tables when completed?

Whatever it is has to be more fun than trying to optimise servers and databases for Magento as i've spent all morning doing :'(

    edit: Still cannot spell!

Well, the PC-NA also does include the Japanese group now too... so perhaps the PC-NA database is much larger than PC-EU.

Yeah I am in that demographic myself, I also run a trading guild on NA server - I don't think science has a word to describe my sleep patterns right now.

I'm happy as an EU player that the last weeks our server got up before NA, when "we" EU players were complaining about the maintanance times we all got *** over us that we should find a job or do something else and don't whine. We finally have a situation where we as eu players actually can play the game in the late afternoon/evening. I can remember TG launch where the patch dropped around 17/18h local time and then the servers had login issues. Many players were not able to play the game that night because of the issues.

Well in this case also deal with it, too bad. I'm sorry its just over 9 in the morning, they will have the servers up before the biggest group of players come online.

Nope, my biz is a little smaller than Magento, we use it to run our online store. Although, if Ebay want to come buy us out too I wouldn't say no :)

Let's reverse the argument...the EU players get to be disappointed about what new things have been broken first

It seems like the EU server always comes back online before the NA server to me. It's not like I've written this info so I can check back about it later though. lol

I just assumed they fired the EU server back up first because there are fewer users, and they were watching to see if anything went wrong. Then when they know the updates are working, they fire up the NA servers. ....but again, this is all an assumption on my part and could be totally off base.

EU server population is actually bigger than NA (at least before the Japanese got the game)

EU is Down during our prime time yet it is NA that is complaining. Long time ago we had separate days but they decided to do it on the same day. Maybe because of leaderboards?

If EU finished, then that is good news for NA, because we can't be that far behind. And just as I post, it finishes.

Never mind. Let's just leave it there. I am 100% perfectly OK with not knowing what Magento is and not really caring tbh, but if you didn't get what I said then you probably need to stay in more (reading comics or watching movies). ;)
