Tower Farming is really annoying

I'm honestly sick of it, you know it's bad when current emps are even doing it.

Sorry just need to rant, had to deal with DC doing it all day.

How to deal with it: ignore it.

They can't farm anyone when there's nobody attacking them.

In the end, the 1 or 2 people up in a resource tower aren't going to wait around all day, and they'll eventually get bored and leave.

Make sure your faction does not feed them.

LOL man i miss this button. You can try to educate people on that idea but theres always 2 or 3 who refuse to get off the flag. Thats like trying to convince people not to fall for the bridge fight AD always finds ourselves drawn too. Just wont ever happen.

To combat this, resource towers should be destroyable even if you own the resource. @ZOS_BrianWheeler theres an idea you can use. Im sure reducing the stress on the server from these constant tower spam sessions people love to do would help alot.

it only works where there is an enemy zerg that's waaay too large. normally, people would just go elsewhere and a group inside the tower ends up making terrible AP.
If an entire faction sticks to a single spot, though. tower farming is probably the best thing to do for groups.

those getting farmed at eh tower, are usually those that are too bad to play solo and mindlessly follow their own faction's lemmings into their demise

He's right, something is clearly causing lag and it seems to be at its worse when clumps of players spam the same abilities over and over again.

This isn't anything new, the game has never performed that well in PVP.

I personally don't mind tower farming at all. With reasonable numbers. This is not what we see lately with that DC guild who just came from Haderus. They stack 16players inside the tower + pugs and make a 20-30players zerg holding the door forever. You shouldn't need more than 16players to tower farm, after that it's just a waste of time and poor AP anyway.

As the best DC guild, I would expect them to seek challenging fights against Fantasia or Dominion Knight. Farming EP pugs for hours inside Chalman mine tower / Brk mine tower / Arrius LM tower ... Did I miss any ? ... is not what I call a challenging fight. Each his own I guess.

There is a psychological affect that occurs in humans and animals when more than enough people are available for a task. Each member of such a group loses individual performance. The opposite is also true, when not enough people are available for a task it's members become individually stronger. That is exactly what happens in a tower farm. Huge groups of people turn into complete potatoes obsessing over a small group. I see it every day because it's 40v12 on TF.

We don't need ZOS to come make zergs stronger so they can avoid things like coordination, planning, builds, teamwork, basically everything the group inside the tower is using. Without those things a zerg should die and they don't need to be crutched anymore by zos.

Two ways to deal with it, ignore it AP farmers get bored when they are not getting AP, or shoot the tower down and leave it down, and those people that take the flag when there is six or seven siege knocking down the tower, they can lead the charge into the tower, cause none of us will be following LOL...

After the resource flips, it should spawn an unkillable guard inside that runs around killing everyone in there.. Either the people inside will allow themselves to be killed by the guard, or will come outside and take their chances with the opposing faction

No it shouldn't. Players should simply learn to siege the tower before takinb the resource or simply walk away and they will soon come back out and retake the flag giving you the chance to siege it down again. It's really only an issue for the idiots that enter the tower one by one.

or just place afew NPC guards inside that can spam negate similar to keep mages, messing with them on respawns etc, give them a loud indicator of when they use it and you can garentee people will storm in to shut them down

These types of mentalities result in buffs to zergs, which then encourages zerging, which also happens to be the #1 cause of lag.

Here is my 7 step program for discouraging tower farms.

    1. Surround the tower.
    2. Don't cap the flag.
    3. Siege down the tower.
    4. Don't cap the flag.
    5. Kill all of those in the tower once reduced to rubble.
    6. Cap the flag and look for camps.
    7. Share the hate tells about zergs and how it ruins their game.

We didn't see any Ash lumber mill tower farms this week. Seems they gave up.

It used to not really be a big deal. But, it's all some groups do anymore. And it's not small groups, it's 24+. A good start would be to disallow siege to be placed on the first floor of an enemy resource tower.

I mean "tower farms" don't always happen for no reason, sometimes when the enemy brings 60 people to retake a resource it's all your little 16-person group can do to even get inside in time.

Just throwing in my thought, I actually enjoy going up against tower farmers.
Getting in, dodging through them, and getting to the top and then fighting down at them is a ton of fun :) even if you die over and over trying to do that... once a few people can make it up there and distract them there's nothing stopping a flood of players from wiping them from below when they're fighting on both fronts.

"But you're giving them AP!" Yeah... probably... who cares, it's fun :P

Also, a lot of times groups will retreat in a tower and "farm" only long enough until there's no longer a zerg outside, and then proceed to siege and try to take the keep... so they may not even be trying to farm it's just a tactical move for them - so might as well root them out (but that said, to each their own - feel free to ignore them or fight them - up to you :)

Of all the things we ask ZOS to "fix" and what we generally just like to complain about I just don't see this as one they should even think about. I get it that in the larger battles where tower farming starts unfortunately the flag will always get turned back. There simply are people not in the bigger groups, guild groups etc. and the flag gets flipped so no siege.

What can be prevented however are the people who keep going in to get farmed. Sure you may charge in the first time not realizing the farm has been set up (although how hard is it to look in the windows heh) but after that simply move off. Even the slowest lemming will eventually stop going in and the farmers will get bored and come out.

Sure there is the zone chat shouting "we must kill them or they will siege xxx castle down". This makes no sense to me as a decent size group can move anytime they feel like to start a siege. Bore them into moving, simple as that

For the record of the post, yes I know to siege the tower down if its bad, stay off the flag etc.

I am mostly just tired of it because its a nuisance. in a way you can't just ignore it because then they will grab another resource when they get bored, then another etc

I just think its really annoying is all.

I have seen that on Haderus. Its the strangest thing to walk into a resource solo and watch 24 people come out of the tower and kill you. How bad do you have to be to outnumber your foe and hide in a tower for even greater advantage.

We do it on Trueflame from time to time. I run with lots of players new to PvP so we go over positions, who should be running oils, etc. Good yellow groups have broken our farm. We don't do it to EP much.

My favorites were the EP Ash lumber mill farm attempts. It is like kicking over an ant hill. They'll try to run out the back and stack over to another tower that is part of the NPC environment setup oils and heavy tanks. They're pretty good at it but we just automatically siege it down now. So funny to see them in the bottom getting trebbed to death.

You all know about that tower farm group that started a farm 2 years ago and remains in that tower today? Yeah, neither do I.

If it bothers you that bad, don't go into the tower. Do something else. But if you do go into the tower, just mist or dodge. Hit an immovable pot before going through the door. Just L2P. It's not like they'll be in there forever. Tower farms are always broken.
