I'm just saying by sight, if there's a notable difference. For all I know nowadays a new player literally won't see any other player until level 40 on XB1, meanwhile a new player on PS4 sees other new players all the time. In that example it would be obvious the PS4 has a much higher population.

I'm asking if anyone knows if there is any such obvious population differences between the two?

If there are too many people in one area then anymore people going into said area are seperated into another channel on that area's server, aka another instance. Therefore, the only way to know the population is to know how many instances are populated, and that is something no player can ever determine.

If it's any consolation though there are plenty of people on PS4 NA lol

How about look at the install bases for both consoles. Ps4 has more than double the install base, thus it would naturally have a larger population. Just my two cents.

PS4 almost surely has a higher population, I wouldn't be shocked if it was almost double.

There is a ton of people on Xbox go to any major faction hub as I'm sure there is a ton on ps4 they both have healthy populations.

Any time I start a new character on XB1 the low level areas are crawling with players. I cannot even complete one quest most of the time without someone else getting in my way.

Not seeing someone until level 40 is an experience I have never had.

Install base means nothing. How many people are in the game regularly does. Since you are making a claim, can you link the info?

I don't need to link anything as it is common knowledge, not a claim. Ps4 has sold around 40 to 45 million units, xbox only around 20 million, if that. Just google it. There's a reason microsoft doesn't release sales numbers anymore. It's because playstation has been blowing them out of the water since launch. Anyone who has been keeping up with video game news could tell you that.

Zenimax doesn't release sale numbers between the three platforms. The only number they did release was "7 million active players" across all three platforms but they did not break down how many are on each. So really it is impossible to know how many bought it on one platform versus another. The only numbers we have to go on is install base numbers and zenimax's vague "7 million" number. We can argue these numbers all day long, but those are the only numbers we have to go on.

That still doesn't mean PS4 has more players playing ESO than Xbox does.The PS4 has a larger install base than pPs4 but More players on xbox bought it compared to PS4.A lot of players haven't picked up or thought about this game let alone know about it on all 3 platforms.

True. An install base of consoles does not dictate how many people are playing each game.

I don't think there are many (if any) people that play on both to be able to make a comparison. One person saying "its crowded on ps4) means nothing if you do not know how many people he considers "crowded". I play on ps4/NA myself and there are a good amount of people in Wrothgar and Cyrodil but I have no idea about starter zones....have not been to them in a while now. And I could not even begin to guess how many people play on Xbox
Is there anyone that plays on both that could give a comparison? I would like to know the answer to this just out of curiosity

My money is on Europe having more ps4 players and NA having more xbox
