Should I "delete" her? A question about the main char vs alts.

A little about the character in question:
I do really love her and we had spent many good days (79 days according by the /played command). However, she is my 2nd favorite race -- Argonian. She is my crafter, she knows every crafting style (working on the new ones now with update 11), she knows all the traits, she did all the normal dungeons. She did EP and DC faction zones, all the DLCs expect Wrothgar but most of it. I spent some time leveling her PVP rank. She has a ton of skill points.
On some days, I ask myself if I should "delete" her and make my favorite race or not?
When I say "delete" I mean that I will use the barber shop tools to change her class, race, and name but I am able to keep all her skill points, what she knows about crafting, achievements, and titles. BUT it is STILL a delete in the sense that I will lose her name, her looks and her race. In way, I am still deleting her to a degree. I can never remake her looks again and I will lose her character's name. Sometimes, I want to play as a Khajiit. I do have Khajiit alts, but I am founding hard of not spreading myself out too thin. I would like to have one char that truly max out (in all the ways that I can) instead of having 12 alts who are weak. I like to have 1 strong char and 11 weaker alts.
If the reader is in my shoes, what would you do? How does one balance playing an alt vs focusing on a main char?

Well, the way you speak about your char says to me : he is in love, so keep "her", moreover if you hesitate there is a reason.
BUT, I think you will appreciate more your new character ONLY WITH TIME (so in the future), so you should use your crowns and pay, an other way to invest in the game for you to revive your game experience.

Wait until your server is copied to PTS. Buy an appearance change token on the PTS, use on her and take print screens of all the settings.
Then, you can make her a Khajiit and re-create her on Live as an alt.
What I would do wouldn't help you. I would never EVER change one my characters' race because that's part of who they are, and who they are matters to me.Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.
Meet my characters:Command: Do the thing.
Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.3 -

Then there is no need to delete a character that you love My first was an altmer sorcerer, and neither of these things are my favourite... So she is now just my crafter, and has unlocked many of the dyes with her achievements, but I very rarely actually play her anymore. ✭✭✭✭✭I would never dream of changing a character's race, class, gender or name. All my 16 characters are equal, I don't have a main plus lesser alts. However, not everyone feels the same way and if the OP wants to make these changes then fine, although what I think we're being told is that he/she doesn't really want to make the changes at all.3 -
AtmaDarkwolf✭✭✭if you do, be aware that the race change function is STILL bugged.
The voice you get never matches the one picked(At least for human characters)
Your passives 'vanish' and the skill points are not refunded, and if after u buy them again, your 'new' passive don't take effect until after you respec skill points ingame normally.
There are others but those above are the most annoying(the voice u get for humans has got to be the most annoying high pitched squeeky voice they could find. I think its ZoS trolling us)1 -

But then things like this are why I either spend a lot of time thinking about characters before I create them or I end up deleting and re-creating them a bunch of time before I commit to them (which one it is usually depends on how well I know the game).
By the time I get to things like training crafting I'm attached to the character, they'll have a rough backstory, a name that ties into who they are and how I'm going to play them and I'll have a general plan for everything they're going to do in-game, at least for the existing content. My main has been a Breton since early access, and she will be a Breton until the servers go down forever. But the fact that you're even considering this tells me you're enough not like me my advice is probably useless to you. I don't min-max with race, and I'm only using three characters so far, so the issue of having a bunch of less-used alts is not so much of an issue for me.

✭✭✭✭✭This is not even really an alternative - if you delete her, you would at first just feel sorry, but later regret it and maybe even grief - keep her as she is - you have spent about as many hours with her as you would spend on a full time job in a year. This is a significant part of your life, which you have dedicated to just her - don't kill her, she is a part of yourself.1 -

Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.***Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.

Junkogen✭✭✭✭✭I'm in the same boat. My biggest dilemma is which race to change to, Altmer, Breton, or stay true to the Pact with a Dunmer? ZOS keeps trolling us with these racial "fixes." I am tired of playing their little games. Argonian racial passives suck, straight up. At least now we can do something about it without losing all our progress. Don't feel guilty.
