Does anyone else find the moderation absurd?

We have decided to close this thread.

This was done because this conversation is already in discussion in a similar thread.

Please continue to post in this thread, as duplicate threads are against our forum rules.

I agree that necroing threads that are not relevant is bad. But necroing a thread like the one on names seems to be alright at least to me.

However it seems that ZoS as per the first example says this is not allowed to create another thread on the same subject. Funny that the second example says it is against the rules to have duplicate threads.

@ZOS_GinaBruno can you see if this can be addressed as it seems silly. At least it does to me. I am also going to pm this you just in case a mod decides to delete the question.

Am I alone in thinking this? Anyone else have any thoughts?

Where do you see a problem?- a very old thread is no longer in discussion - so you can open a new one on the topic.

Moderating is hard thankless work . Remember moderators have more then one game forum they work . In regards to necro posts , it has been said to feel free to recreate old thread If topic is still relevant . It's just a forum an I wouldn't take it personally . Just remake the topic again .

Well the one thread I am referring to was less that 2 months old. Not exactly a zombie.

I saw that thread and the message from the mod closing it. Seemed a bit recent to be classified as a "necro," but I wouldn't call it absurd.

Nearly thankless - I had a very pleasant experience with @ZOS_DaryaK , who thanked me for a contribution I made in a post, which did not appear before the thread was closed. And I thanked her for a fair and reasonable moderation, even it had hit me once or twice as well - a little more politeness and understanding both ways and it can be a quite pleasant experience.

Necro threads can spread misinformation and multiple threads on the same topic clutters the forums. Makes sense to me.

The OP is referring to this thread.

My post was the last before it got closed. Admittedly, I did refer to the thread as having been "necro'd" but it wasn't that old, and my point was more that the issue is still a problem. I wasn't trying to imply that the thread should be locked, but more that it was an old thread about a still current (and unresolved) issue.

    OP examples are very different.

Necro thread is clearly against a the terms of the forums. Moderators should not have to determine if the topic and information is still valid. It's appropriate to close any such thread.

Multiple active threads in the same subject diluted the conversation. Makes good sense to close newer threads on the same topic. Especially since there have been time we could have hit a dozen active threads on the same subject which is just painfully obvious that would become absurd.

I see the thread and just so you know not all moderation is permanent . You can PM any moderator and appeal a decision if you want a thread to stay alive with the constructive comments in tact .

Then just open a new one like suggested - this one will be closed as well, because discussing moderation is as well against the rules.

I thought we weren't supposed to discuss how the forums are moderated on the forums? Perhaps I'm mistaken?
