Problem with Cyrodiil Campaigns

dominic.iraceb14_ESO
I'm still trying to find an instruction sheet for this .. but i joined the 7 day campaign for PvP/PvE.. It ending early yesterday morning and i assumed it would just place me back outside of Cyrodiil at the last Wayshrine i warped from???

Anyway, when i signed in last night.. i was still in Cyrodiil and noticed that the timer had just reset for another 7 days.. So i when to abandon the campaign and they wanted 100,000 AP points!!! or 100,000 gold!!! WTF!

How does this crap work?? i already participated in a 7 day campaign.. why am i locked in for another 7 days?

It is finicky and borderline *** the way it works, but basically you need to drop right as the campaign ends

You stay assigned to a campaign until you leave the campaign. The "end" of a campaign is only for scoring. If you want to change campaigns, the cheapest time to do so is at the end of the campaign, but you need to tell the game in advance of the end that you want to do this, since a new campaign scoring cycle starts almost immediately.

If you're looking for an instruction sheet, try http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Campaigns, and let me know if there's anything there that you don't understand.

If you want to switch and you know its ending soon, just go ahead and set your home to the campaign you want to join and set to switch when campaign ends.

You are not dumped from your home/guest campaign when they reset, only the score board is.
Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.

Do you just want to leave Cyrodiil?

There is a wayshrine at either home base. You can travel from a keep to your home bases if they are connected or just get me unstuck.

There is a wayshrine at each, zoom out and select the area you want to travel to. You can go into Cyrodiil and then leave when you please.

I liked the 7 day campaign very much.. i've been trying to complete all the PvE stuff first on the red side.. since i've completed it, i wanted to join the "yellow" side so i can complete those PvE areas without being a target for the other side.

I figured once i was done with that, i'd join the blue team as a guest campaign and complete all those areas.

I've notice a few times that when i leave a Campaign through a wayshrine and try to come back, it made me re-join the campaign again? is this correct.. Can you travel back to a Cyrodiil wayshrine from outside the area?

You cannot switch factions ever. If you want to do those PvE quests, you will either need to boldly go into enemy territory or make a character in the other faction.

The only way to travel to Cyrodiil is through the Campaign screen, because the game needs to make sure you are put through the queue correctly.

"Entering" Cyrodiil is a bit different from "joining" a Campaign though. Once you choose a Home Campaign, you have permanently joined that campaign, for scoring purposes (unless you reassign to another or abandon it), but you can enter and leave Cyrodiil whenever you like. If you're not planning on going to Cyrodiil again, there's still no real need to abandon the campaign, as it costs gold/AP that you may want to use elsewhere, and doesn't do any harm to stay assigned.

I was actually also wondering about something related to this as well. Suppose my home (30 day) campaign ends in two days, and I want to switch home campaigns when this one ends. I might not be at home at the exact time it ends to switch it manually. Right now if I go to select another campaign as my home, it says 100,000 AP in parenthesis. :#

So where is the option to switch automatically when current campaign ends? I don't want to click on change home and waste 100K AP when it's only two days away...

I am on PS4 by the way. The campaign menu interface could definitely use an improvement.

@hairahcas the option to switch when ended will come when you try to change your home campaign while its still active.

You will get the choice of paying AP/Gold or switching when ended.

@hairahcas Yeah the console interface is a bit poorly designed when it comes to that. Follow the steps all the way through, and before the final confirmation, you will get the choice between "Set Now, 100,000 AP" and "Set when Campaign Ends, 50 AP" (or words to that effect).

??? Then what does the "Guest" campaign do>> I've read online that i could play as a guest in the other Factions or play with Friends in other Factions??

"You can also participate in other campaigns as a guest player for instance, it is possible to jump into another campaign if you're invited into it. This won't unassign you from your home campaign, you will just play with your friend for some time. The bad thing about playing in other campaigns is that you won't increase your leaderboard rankings in your home campaign."

A guest campaign gives you a second instance of Cyrodiil to participate in, but you don't get put on the leaderboard in that campaign. You still play for the same faction, but which keeps are owned by which alliance, and how many players of each alliance there are, will likely be different. Many people choose a guest campaign where their faction controls a lot of the map, because that makes the PvE questing easier, and a home campaign where there are a lot of enemy players, because that makes the PvP more interesting.

You can't. At least, not in Cyrodiil.

you would need to make another characters in that faction. Faction change is not possible (and I hope never will be). When One Tamriel comes you will be able to PvE/quest with other factions but not until then. But that still will not effect Cyrodil at all. You can not even join a campaign on a faction if you have another character in another faction already in that campaign. You can still get into it if you have someone group with you and they take you in, but you can not get in on your own. The only thing you can do with other factions right now are dungeons and trials.
