Whats the point of a maelstrom shield?

Why is it even in the game, it's the only piece that has no bonus.

They could of just added something like give it 1.5k physical/spell dmg or something.

I think it is pretty useful . When you get a random tank , you can clearly see if tank is using it or not . So you can kick if he is ^^

The Maelstrom's Shield serves four purposes:

1) Deconstructing this Shield may yield a whole Dwemer Frame style material.

2) This Shield always drops alongside either The Maelstrom's Mace or The Maelstrom's Sword. You effectively double the chances per Maelstrom Weapon drop to obtain Dwemer Frames when you see a Shield.

3) If someone equips this Shield, they are either using the Glory set or the Permafrost set. Their unique tank build is not very intimidating.

4) It looks cool, and is fun to show off. It can also signal that someone beat Veteran Maelstrom Arena recently for the first time, and feel they need to prove their accomplishment by walking around with their first ever Maelstrom Weapon, which is either a Sword+Shield or Mace+Shield.

Let's give it a unique enchant already ZOS. Please!

LOL... I almost felt like doing this.

In all honesty there is nothing more frustrating than "wasting" 10 hours of your life to beat vMA for the first time and getting rewarded with a Mace + Shield combo.

But the same question can be ask for the Charged trait... why is it in the Maelstrom loot table !?

The original Maelstrom Shield enchant turned out to be glitched and Glory/Permafrost was I think a hasty quick fix.
And it is still not too late to get it done more befitting a Maelstrom weapon.

and agree: some unique enchant... plzzzz

We can help you with creative ideas:

while blocking: any NPC hitting the shield gets taunted
or... while blocking you get 4k additional health (like Necropotence)
or... while doing heavy attacks you regain an additional 1k Stamina
etc,
etc,
etc

Come on ZOS
Players will for years to come do the vMA to get something unique
Make it also worthwhile for S&B tanks

Because Zenimax doesn't think about if items should specifically go with certain sets. Hence the reason we have Marksman weapons other than Bow.....seriously, what's the point of D/W or any other 2H weapon for Marksman?!?!?!?!?!

Well the 4 pieces bonus is not bad and five piece bonus also reduce the stamina cost of skill by 5%, so it's viable, not BiS.
What is stupid, is receiving a Marksman/Leki/Fury Staff...

It has no point. The Permafrost and Glory sets really do suck, lets give it an actuall tank enchant plz.

But we wont. Because tank is the dirty word and no one likes them. Besides, didn't you hear? Tanks are not ment for maelstrom. They need to stay out. So why would they get it anyway?

If zos makes S&B great then there will be people complain they gotta run VMA to get best tanking gear and they will complain about it.. its just sad.. so yeah probably leave it being useless so they'll feel better.

Anyone remember the Skyrim shield, I think it was dwarven or dwemer? It was epic.

It would absorbe melee damage, charge up and do a massive knock back.

Would be awesome if it had some sort of bonus. Even if it's only decreased bash cost (like the jewelry enchant) or so.
