Yeah, bots used to be a LOT worse. You couldn't find mats or kill bosses because there would be 20 players named sdf78uwr0fsdh or some other random name killing and grabbing everything, then selling gold. They stamped that out rather well. That's why I report any blatant unusual things like this. I would not want that to start up again.

Their bot detection system sucks. I was picked up for just doing some normal xp farming in a cyrodiil dungeon. I got silenced then banned. Customer service took all of 5 minutes to eval my appeal before that person banned me permanently. The only way I was unbanned was to call ZOS and I was lucky enough to get a very nice person who actually went to the TOS department (I think that is what he called it) and have the ban lifted. I had sent several mails to customer service and never got a reply on one. I don't know jack about bots other than they suck and so do the people who use them. When normal farming gets flagged as bots and bots don't get flagged as bots the system is broken.

I agree they need to be banned but they should be very careful about how they ban. Clearly they cannot tell who is really using a bot, and clearly the customer service department is either too stupid, too rude, too uneducated to know either. There is nothing I did that was wrong. If I was in an area killing bugs to level up and I go into my firefox (which triggers crouch because I have to ctrl.alt.del) does that make me a bot user? I have no idea how I even ended up being banned or what triggered it but it was a false positive. And it was wrong. They did it. They didn't look back. I was lucky to get back on. I know I am not the only one this happens to. When I said in this forum I had not been using bots people replied rude (some of them) and called me a liar (indirectly and directly) and accused me of cheating. ZOS doesn't know what they are doing and they would have never let me back in if I didn't get lucky enough to come across someone who actually did their job and gave a crap.

Yeah, just hope that living person isn't having a bad day or lacking the knowledge or skill or desire to do the right thing. The person who I got when I was banned and then in the appeal too five minutes to decide I was gone. And yet, TOS let me back in. So clearly their detection is flawed. False positives and not dealing with actual bot users. I maintain it must be a wide net they use that grabs a whole lot of people and some of the are not using bots. Then if you scream loud enough and get lucky to have a live person who does their job well, you are let back in after they check and see no you were not using bots.

Reporting people likely does nothing because as far as I can tell from all my experiences with customer service. They are only capable of looking things up and sending out form type replies. They do not seem to do much more than that. Not in one instance have I seen anything to show otherwise. Therefore their skills and education are rather limited (with regards to being able to fully help customers with game issues).

They were at 540 just a couple days ago. It's a slow grind, but the bot runner doesn't have to do anything so it's easy.

While they should ban away... trust me, this game doesn't have NEARLY the bot problem that most other MMOs do.

Go play BnS (great game...but bots galore).... then you'll cling onto ESO with all your might as far as anti-botting goes.


HOWEVER, there's no reason why someone who is botting should still be in the same spot doing so after so many reports.... that's a bit ridiculous. What happened to those GMs who would go in game and use the actual banhammers (causing cheaters to explode and be perma-banned)??!!!

That's not the issue. The issue is that botting is not permitted. Are you saying that since the infraction is minor it should be allowed to continue?

(More notable is that this bot is still there after being reported several times.)

He had a Clanfear and a Twilight, along with a bear cub pet.
"Nope, not a bot. See, I have a bear pet!"

Several of us stood looking at the bot and commenting on it last night and the bot just kept doing its program. It would take a GM 30 seconds to realize it was a bot. I could even give map coordinates tonight when I am online, as it is always in exactly the same spot.

There's a glitch where you can cause the daedric pets to multisummon. If I'm remembering correctly, it's reliant on either extreme lag, or inhuman button mashing. Meaning you're probably looking at macroing... or someone who had a serious bout of latency.

So you guys have all the time in the world during the day to worry about someone killing two mobs (out of an entire map with multiple instances)? I'm loling as I work.

Bot in usual spot in Wrothgar again tonight, around coordinates 79.64x45.58 . I was there when they first arrived, they saw me looking at them so they moved around a bit in the area. I went hunting, came back, and they are back to standing in one spot hitting respawns when they appear every few minutes. They are now up to 545 CP now, so the bot is earning close to a CP a day.
