Guarantee you these morons won't take ownership, they'll blame something like a DDOS. The sad truth is that this is the culmination of weeks of server issues, people getting d/c'd and add on the release of content without fixing prior issues first. They just don't have the skills to resolve these problems before they have global impact.

It's a collection of many many many servers that have to be brought up in a specific sequence most-likely.
I work with similar setups designed for processing scientific research. It can be a very delicate operation, and if it isn't done properly, you're starting over.

Actually I work on about 99% Linux servers. And yes, it can still take that long.
As I said, we're not talking about single servers, but a huge cluster of servers that inter-operate in several ways.
If the whole farm has go down, it's a pretty big undertaking to get it back up, functional, and then you've still got to make sure it's entirely functional before allowing users back on.
And, just so ya know, operational clusters that use Windows typically stage updates, so that doesn't happen. By taking down individual boxes, running updates, and then returning them to the pool. This method results in zero downtime. If they are running Windows you can bet they are doing this all of the time to prevent just that.
AND, any large organization controls their own update server(s), and they are aware of exactly when this is happening unlike home users who pay it no attention and get blindsided.
So redundancy and Failover are just words is what you're saying. And if their entire cluster is whacked, then DDOS0 -

I slept in and it was GREAT. Then I was gonna do dailies, but, y'know... But I understand things happen, so right now I'm playing Monster Hunter Generations and trying to catch up!
I've beat both of the dungeons on Vet mode! I even have every "fluff" achievement for Ruins of Mazzatun. So for that one I'm only missing hard mode, no death and speedrun since my friend group is like a group of 6 and I haven't had a chance to be a part of the 4-man team for CoS yet. Going to work on that soon, though.
Friends and I have been theorycrafting on how to deal with the achievement for killing Kephidaen (sorry if I mangled her name) without lighting the braziers. Everything else we either think we can do, or have done it. Super pumped to have dungeon achievements to work on again, and kudos to the dungeon team on making two really fun ones! Oh, and Heem-Jas is one of my favorite NPCs for being Butt Monkey of the Year.
How's your weekend going? Have you earned your Hist-Shadow title?
