So I want to get into the game, however the whole issue with current DLC, Gold Edition and the new DLC coming out is really confusing. What would be the best option for me to simply unlock all the content?

Best option to unlock all the content as soon as possible would be to ideally subscribe. Gold Edition will give you Imperial City, Orisinium, Thieves Guild and Dark Brother hood DLC at purchase so if you want those four but don't want to sub, that would be a good option since you'll get the base game too. You won't get the new DLC with that though

Subscribe. That'll give you access to all DLC content, while you're subbed, along with 1500 crowns per month to play with. In general, save your crowns for stuff like costumes, mounts, pets and other cosmetic goodies that appeal to you; don't spend it on the consumables.

Worst case, if you're subscribed, and decide you don't want to pay every month, you'll still have the full value of your subscription back and can use that towards buying the DLC you want at a later date.

Ok, Gold Edition is coming out in September though right? I'm going to college in September and probably won't be playing then. Is subscription still ideal?

Yeah. With a subscription, if you know you're not going to be playing in a given month, you can cancel, and then start it up again when you're able to be active. If you're playing in short bursts, then it's going to be far cheaper than buying the DLC. There are also other perks to being subscribed, like a crafting bag that will squirrel away all your crafting materials, and keep them out of your normal inventory.

In that case, I'd get the Gold Edition to do the content that comes with it in the down time you get during college. If you aren't playing much the subscription will seem like it could be a bit of waste, especially if you go monthly instead of the quarterly or half year sub

Ok, I'll probably buy the game and subscribe, which is better, Tamriel Unlimited or Imperial Edition?

Imperial edition is the same as Unlimited but gives you the Imperial race as a playable option.

    Is it worth the $10?

Imperial does offer some good racial passives that make it a good all-round choice for whatever you want to do so I'd say so

Yeah, the Imperial Edition is an upgrade, with the Imperial Race (which can be rolled in any alliance), a white horse (account wide unlock), and the ability to transmute non-unique items to the Imperial motif. It might also toss in a Scroll of Mara, I don't remember.

If you're buying it on Steam for 30 bucks, it's a good option. The upgrade usually costs 20 by itself. Imperials are a pretty solid racial pick, and the horse is a very nice bonus, when you're just starting out.
