Thinking about coming back, how is the current meta?

I played a bit during beta and launch, and have been thinking about coming back to ESO. How has the game aged?

I never made it very far, so I can't really say I left for any reason other than lack of captivation with the early version of the game.

Is the community thriving?

Will there be anyone to play with in the low level zones?

Appreciate any feedback, thanks!

Like twinkies. Everyone says it's bad, but they still want to eat it.

I'd say yeah, and the recent DLCs have brought in a lot of new players.

Oh yeah, the beginning zones are always full of other players. It's the later zones where you start seeing a lot less of people cause then they're usually all ganking or zerging it out in Cyrodiil.

For the most part the game is still pretty great, and there's still a lot of players. But if there's one thing I feel obligated to warn you about currently, it's the following.

    DON'T. GO. TO. ORSINIUM.

    Otherwise, welcome back.

Stamina is better for DPS but play what you like . ZOS just changes meta all the time . 2 patches ago , Magicka was king . Now they suck . There is no balance between stamina and magicka sadly . One of them is always stronger than other . I would suggest you to play Dunmer since it has bonuses to both Magicka and Stamina . You can just change your character to Stamina from Magicka still be decent . Race change is here so if you want to min/max , you can always go something stronger when Dunmer is not enough . For PvE , Khajit Stamina DK is best . All Stamina is good . But I think DK is one step ahead . For Magicka , Dunmer Magicka DK has the lead I guess . We don't see many magicka players but I know that Magicka DK has the best sustained DPS of all Magicka classes . So yeah , for PvE , we can say that DK is stronger , either Magicka or Stamina .

My biggest suggestion would be learning animation cancelling . There are lots of videos on youtube . Be sure to learn these :
Light attack , medium attack , heavy attack , block , roll dodge , weapon swap , bash . 7 types of animation cancelling that you should learn and practise for faster combat and easier gameplay .

    Good luck !

Pve wise, the game runs fine for the most part.

Plenty of people in low level zones still. There is a lot of content.

Pvp is lag, zergs and imbalance though, not gonna lie. A few hours there may mean half an hour of good pvp.

I leveled up twink on questing recently and I can admit there is a lack of people in low lvl zone. I don't say it's none of them, but not really much. Not a problem for me, because I passed it very fast, but for new one, doing it for first time can be lonely mb. I want to think, that new dlc brought new people in game

The forum community may be toxic at times but generally is not representative of the in-game community. I've never encountered anyone in PvE areas that wasn't polite and helpful.

I frequently level alts. The first faction is generally well populated. Your second and third factions (Caldwell's Silver and Gold) are typically sparsely populated. I believe the developer's plans to implement One Tamriel (no ETA) will eliminate that.

There are some new alternative leveling options that may not have been available when you played last. The DLC areas are battle leveled, meaning mobs and rewards will scale to your level. If you tire of playing within your faction, or feel under leveled, you can always go to one of the new areas. You can access the PvE DLC as soon as you exit the Wailing Prison (or skip it) and the PvP DLC as soon as you're level 10.

The Imperial City DLC is great if you enjoy PvP. If you have few (or none) champion points there are options to join no-champion point campaigns.

The Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood DLCs are fun, especially if you enjoy the stealthy / stealing / sociopath play style. There are many repeatable quests now that allow you to continue to get chances at gear and rare crafting motifs.

Orsinium DLC is a full zone and one of the best. It too has repeatable quests with chances at worthwhile rewards. Its also a great place to gather crafting materials.

The new DLC that was released yesterday is two new dungeons and may not be of interest to you until after you're leveled and have had time to obtain improved gear.

If you feel overwhelmed with all the options or are struggling to get started you may want to consider joining a guild (you can join multiple). You should look for a guild that shares your interests. The community is very helpful when it comes to specific questions asking for help. Don't be afraid to ask.

What other questions do you have?

If you are on console. The console population is so high the server can barely handle the immense traffic through the zone. As such crashing and dropping are common. On PC there are no such issues. Lower population.

also did this and am currently playing another. with first twink population was moderate (ad). current one in places queuing up for mobs (pact)

so, all in all, pretty good.

Needs a whole lot of improvement. If you can put up with:

    Rinse and Repeat game play
Poor Game Performance In Cyrodiil during peak hours
    Numerous Bugs

    Then come back.

Forget about the Meta. Just play what suits you. The meta changes all the time anyway.
