Many creative sets that do not scale and are prebalanced are automatically removed from consideration in pvp due to their efficacy being arbitrarily halved by the battle spirit buff. Sets that provide situational shielding like whitestrakes and imperium. Sets that provide situational healing like redistributor. Sets that do situational damage like thews of the harbinger and viper. All these sets and many more have become traps for new players. They look like they can compete. They look interesting. But they are guaranteed to fail in pvp.

And guess what will happen with VD then.

And not really, it is not the damage dealt that is touched, it is the damage taken instead.

1 set shouldn't stop a good system change from happening. VD was designed with the battle spirit damage reduction in mind. The majority of sets in the game were not. Easier to adjust VD than to go back through buffing all the sets gutted by battle spirit.

Such sets as Juggernaut suffering from battle spirit a lot. It should restore solid amount of resources like Warlock but battle spirit make it restore laughable amount of HP.

19k burst isn't really even competitive for a burst build. A burst build that can only fullburst low max hp targets is kinda a great example of the dysfunctional sets I am talking about .

That's a 4.5k burst dmge just from the set alone. Tell me a set that outperforms that for burst builds. Not even alchemist, kena or skirmisher, and those have substantial drawbacks.

Yes but he gets that burst at the expense of damage on his other skills and only that much when the viper proc critical. A more streamlined burst build would pull 6 to 7k ambush and 9 to 10k surprise attack and be almost caught up in 2 moves.

Gonna have to agree that Viper is a good set in PvP. If you get caught fighting out of stealth, it performs better than full damage setups because it provides more burst as opposed to sustained damage.

Basically lets you have good burst in your build that has resource sustain and defense as a bigger focus.

I do agree that some sets get way too nerfed in PvP from battle spirit (shield/healing sets), but some do not. (Damage sets)
    NA-PC

Kaineth - Stamina Nightblade (Weakest Player Ever!)
Elena Stormwood - Magicka Sorcerer (vMA no Death 12/21/15 Score 401148)
Sheila Feyrondas - Magicka Dragonknight Tank (Frost staves are gonna be fun!)

*Disclaimer* I fail at emotional communication, so assume what I say is NOT meant to be offensive.

yeah I agree with the OP that many many sets suffer from this, but viper is a bad example as its still pretty awesome in PvP. Sets that suffer the most are sets that double dip in battle spirit. The perfect example is Bahraha's Curse. Incase you are unfamiliar with the set, the 5 piece proc damages enemies and heals you for the damage done. So the damage is halved by battle spirit AND then the healing is halved as well....pretty ridiculous.

maybe if the PvE sets were not particularly suitable for PvP use (and so not seen to suffer from Battle Spirit) and that they bring out "dedicated" PvP sets, that they make viable in a PvP situation only (e.g. when attacking a player, or when near a keep, etc.) there might be a chance for creative sets and builds in both circumstances

the OP raises a good point...just look how much fuss is made over Malubeth in PvP (considered "broken" and too powerful), yet in PvE is not as amazing due to how it procs. and is not considered a broken set
