Naming Weapons and Shields

I would like to have the option the give my gear a unique name. I always loved naming my swords and bows in the other TES games.

Like my soul trapping dagger, Soulja

thanks to RNG, there will be basically weapons shaming, while naming a rarity..

Also, you couldn't link the item... Because it would take someone about six seconds to name a bracer "Tripot," and start scamming. Or name it something hideously offensive and start yelling "I can't believe ZOS named a weapon [*** ur rites]!"

Reminds me of a tv quote:

I think it might be interesting to be able to name at least crafted items. have the link name at the top, and then the name you have chosen in quotation marks.

I have a VR14 (CP 140) greatsword I crafted more than a year ago, my very first legendary weapon. I would like to honor it with a proper name, for serving me faithfully all this time.

While there would be shenanigans, I would point out that there are ALWAYS shenanigans, so it is pragmatic to accept that gear naming will not be *** - free.

However, I expect that many would name their gear according to use. While the character wears a set that begins with "pvp magicka dps" the inventory may well have a set beginning with "pve magicka dps" and a set labelled "pve magicka tank". No shenanigans.

Also, I like promoting the use of the word 'shenanigans'.

Yea problem with that is well......... you seen some of the "creative names" some players make be ESO, Runescape, WoW, or even CoD ......................... Yea

Regardless of what sort of shenanigans players would be up to when naming items, it would still bind them to their account. Why? Because things would be SO much worse than simply using names to attempt to be amusing in any way if they didn't...

Why couldn't it just revert to the previous title in a sale?

Like if I was in the game of thrones universe and killed some warrior with a sword called "The Oathkeeper" I'd call it my own thing because she probably didn't share that story with me before her death

I dont really see character names on console. You have to look properly to see past the gamer tag/psn. It's a shame because my name is Scott Meow-Knight which is also my real life name excluding the meow. But the guy is a Khajiit DK. He's my spirit animal

You can set which one is displayed; the character name or the user id. Whichever one is displayed the other will display under it when you put them in your crosshair.

Both also display in Guild, Friend, and Group lists.

I know it's just not the main name which is what I expected. I wouldn't have put much thought into if people would refer to me by my PSN anyway haha. Its not a complaint really I was just surprised that there's so many bad PSN names

Once we can start doing name changes there will be no excuse for having bad names
