One Tamerial Update question?

After hearing about the One Tamerial Update I have a question?

Really hope this update will fix the biggest complaint I have with this game. The fact I can not quest through campaign with friends or just any quest really hurts the game for friends and I.

Will this update fix that? Tried to quest with friends numerous times and I can not see the objective they are doing, etc.

No idea why this game was made as an MMO/Social game and you can not question with friends. Always thought that was just ludicrous stupid and poor lazy development.

Please, please please say this will be fixed with that update?!?

Unsure if it changed, many quests with phased areas have been solo locked without being actual solo instances.

What happens with Guild Traders after One Tamriel?

Once the silver and gold regions are the same as the home faction...does that mean less guild traders?

The traders are already instanced. That trader in Wayrest is the same, regardless if you're Blue, Yellow or Red ...

He is talking about a the good amount of quests in the game if you finished it it'll phase you out. So I your friend want to quest with you, the two of you will not be able to see nor interact with each other. Mostly because you have completed the quest and is phased to the competed version of the area that the quest is in, IE Haven.

but the instances are only an issue if you or they have done the quest seperatley

which therefore means you arent questing together, you are helping or being helped on a quest. quite a different situation.

i dont see how this could be changed, haven for example, without spoiling it, the 2 instances of this town are quite different.

Short answer is NO because this isn't something to be 'fixed'. If YOU have already completed a quest by yourself or with someone else, you cannot go back and 're-quest' the same quest over again. Many quests, once completed, phase you to the "completed" area... wouldn't it be odd if you finished a quest, saved the town, only to have the town back under siege a moment later?!? Take Velyn Harbor in Malabal Tor... in order to gain access to the bank, merchants, etc... you have to 'save the town' from invasion... now if this were "fixed" according to how you want, then you'd never have access to anything in Velyn Harbor because it could never be 'saveable' and would always be under attack.

Thus, there will always be areas in which you won't be seeing the same thing as another person if either have progressed beyond that point.

I really hate the phasing system. The way it stops you from being able to quest with your friend if you have already completed, it makes it completely anti social.

Furthermore, two years ago they said they would phase any players to their group leader to stop these issues. I guess that was given up on.

No the phasing in groups does work. Also, a workaround - you can use "travel to player" in the group options list which will take you back to their phase. You won't gain any XP or anything, and you won't have the quest either as its already done for you. However, you will be able to help them in that earlier phase.

The travel to player thing isn't really an answer though. There should be an actual system that auto Phases players to their group leader to stop sudden separation when going through Zones and such, rather than having a bunch of players in a group have to continue to click 'Travel to player' and get a loading screen every time they encounter something that one of them has or hasn't done.

I wouldn't think it would be too difficult to introduce a mentoring system that allows you to travel with an individual regardless of their phase. If it comes down to it, make it something similar to the rings of Mara

Awhile back they talked about configuring the phasing system so you could revisit areas and sync up with your group leader. I haven't heard anything on the subject in awhile, but I assume they're still working on it. I don't know if it's coming with One Tamriel, or even if some serious issue cropped up and the idea was shelved.

But... maybe?

I just wish I could know if they are planning on doing anything with it. Because even just a system that syncs everyone to the Group leader automatically would be massively appreciated and HUGELY impactful.

@Mashille Like I said, the best course of action is still to drop the question into the ESO Live basket. This is going to be a much more important issue when One Tamriel hits, because allowing existing players to group with newbies will result in mismatched quest progress.

I would imagine that the main story, and fighter's and mage's guild questlines will remain solo. Other quests that are solo instances are anybody's guess.

Anyone have more info on this now since the One Tamerial Update is out?

Have friends that want to/thinking on buying the game but will not buy since unable to quest together. Huge turn off for them.

First of all:

Second, what is your question exactly?
Will your friends be able to quest together?
Yes.
All players can interact and play together regardless of faction now.
Except in PvP (Cyrodiil) of course.

Judging by the fact only a troll came to the thread with a pathetic attempt to troll an answer, the update must be decent and everyone is playing the game.

I'm just curious to know if friends can quest with friends during the story missions? Really do not care about getting gold, experience, or such in redoing the quests. Just want to play the game with friends.

They feel why should they purchase a social MMO game when they are stuck playing the story only by themselves. Can go offline and play Skyrim at that point is what they share every time I try to get them to buy ESO.

Can't say I blame them. No reason why can not play with a friend in story mode to join their "phase" and have fun together.

As someone mentioned above, the quest phasing still exists, so if you're in a location where quest phasing is used, you won't be able to see other players if you're on different stages of that quest. There aren't many places which use quest phasing any more though; I think it's mostly only big cities where the entire location is liberated from enemies over the course of the quest. For example: Camlorn, Haven, Arenthia.
