ZOS missing the boat with barber shop/recustomize?

There is something to be said for that safety net and sense of security of knowing you can make simple changes to your character like getting a haircut or growing a beard, adding new face paint or tattoos, etc. without shelling out real life cash every time.

WoW and other games realize this, AND have a proper transmog system, and that freedom of customization alone kept me playing far longer than I would have.

I am deeply disturbed to see that apparently ZOS has opted for an "all or nothing" route to customization. If you want to make simple tweaks to your character appearance you have to purchase a cash shop full recustomize. It doesn't look like we will get an in-game gold barber shop for just simple changes.

Also, no transmog system appears to be in the works.

ZOS is this true? Will we really have to shell out 4k or 5k crowns for a full recustomization just to change our hairstyle? Or will there be some simple in-game gold system available for small tweaks like this as other titles?

If not I fear that sense of security and freedom to invest in a character knowing that I may correct simple things without throwing my credit card at the screen transforms into a sense of dread and foreboding where I never really WANT to invest time, because my character seems more like a future liability than an investment.

If every little tweak I make costs real money, then this will be a terrible thing for the longevity of the game.

Sell full recustomize sure, but let us change hairstyle, facial hair, face paint, and tatoos for in-game gold!

I would prefer having the option to pay customization with either gold or crowns, somewhat like ES:Skyrim or Fallout 4. 10.000 Gold or X Crowns for accessing the barber shop, then free face/body customization. Race change should charge Crowns only.

I was really surprised when they said it was crown store only, I really thought at least basic customization would be in-game gold. Very dissapointed with ZOS, again!

Just hand over those 5k crowns. You know you want to.

I don't mind paying 5k crowns to unlock the feature permanently. And re-customize costs in game gold. Re-visiting the store everytime I want to tweak looks is for the birds. I understand it can't be free because this isn't a P2P game. Feels more F2P with temporary purchases.

5k for changing my eyebrows seems cheap enough.

I primarily wish we had, you know, actual barber shops and stuff. And various barbers in various towns would have various styles, even if it was partly Crown based. Because, you know, it's Elder Scrolls and we're all about immersion and stuff.

But hey, menus are a thing in games I suppose. I'll immerse myself in Tamriel with my inner eye or something.

By far I'd assume a larger amount of players would prefer gold and or crowns but not any one or the other.
It's just like the ties to ESO plus for things tho.....greed is at play.

This game is being run like a F2P game and well either you put up with it or bounce.

I was disappointed in the way they are doing the cosmetic transactions, no store just a sterile crown purchase, no interactions in game at all :(

I voted No just to spite your horribly biased poll options.

Also, where has the price been announced?

You can buy a Crown Store pack which contains every hairstyle in the base game. Once you have that, you can change your hairstyle as often as your heart desires without spending any more real money. You just go to the Appearance menu and change your hair as if you were changing a costume.

Pretty sure you can change body paint through the Appearance menu too, although I didn't actually try it.

Jewellery, beards, and make-up/facepaint is more complicated for some in-depth technical reason. Apparently ZOS would have to completely recode the way that the game handles these items to allow us to change them on the fly like we do costumes and hairstyles. The only thing you can do is add one of the new silly beards (very long beard or "squid tentacle" beard) to your character. You can't switch from a moustache to a goatee, which sucks.
