Just a recent observation after cracking open my first Friday after work beer . I loaded in , got on my Sorc and looked . That Sorc never uses two hands ever in any animation . So why is two handed ? What if we had staff and sword combos ?

If they were One-Handed they would have even LESS Base Damage. Also you'd be able to Dual Wield them and that would raise issues in and among itself.

Probably for that nebulous concept called Balance.

11 slots for staffs and 2 handed users...a nice, fun to work with, 11 slots. With a Kena shoulder, you're golden.

For Zos to make staffs one handed the forum hose for everything magika would be reduced to compensate for the added spell damage and set bonus slot.

In other words, it's is more likely to be a bad thing.

Edit: and there is no reason for this change since magika builds already do very well.

Well obviously it should be the same for Bow and Two Handed too then :p Have those weapons count for 2 set bonuses instead of 1 :p

I think you misse my point based on your reply. Sps set things a certain way based on bow, 2H and staff being 2 hand weapons as they are. Changing to add set bonus or permit dual carry would require a change to the formulas.

In other word, your suggesting is not needed and if it was implemented it could be bad for builds using the affected weapons due to changes in formulas.

    Please read my precious post.

Edif: and again, magika builds certainly do not need any help. They do fine as it is.

And I think you missed my point too: the problem that we have to sacrifice a set bonus because 1 weapon takes 2 slots. If those weapons would give 2 bonuses, that freed up slot would allow us more variety with our gear setup.

Not such a bad thing if that was implemented, for both Magicka & Stamina

All acceptable answers . However I would like to be able to twirl my staff around like a Monk and do light and heavy attacks with it close up . Keep the ranged light and heavy the same . It would look cool and make more sense for taking up two hands .

They have the same base damage as a 1 handed weapon, same with bows.

Anyone who has played Morrowind wants an Unarmed Skill line, if not also a Hand to Hand skill line too. I would so love to build a Monk and take them through this game.

Yes they do and the reason for that is they are ranged weapons. However, they are 2-handed so if you make them 1-handed they will have to drop the base damage ratings even MORE.

    Theoretically: I got nothin'.

Gameplay: Probably so people couldn't use a staff as part of the DW tree or 1H+S since those were meant to be stamina lines, but then you have 2H...? Idk man.

More playing devil's advocate here than trying to justify it, because frankly I'd like to be able to hold something else too. My healer's noodly but he's not so noodly he can't hold up a second stick or a shiv.

Staff+sword would be pretty cool, though, especially if the sword was conjured. But since the direction of the game seems to heavily discourage hybrid builds, I don't really think it'll become a reality. sadly.

It'd be neat if for heavy attacks the user gradually couldn't contain the power in the staff with one hand and had to use their other one for bracing. Light attacks could still be hip-fired, I guess. Some attacks like Elemental Blockade or Force Siphon could use the two-hands-on-staff animation too.
