Have you actually tried swinging around a sword and a quarterstaff at the same time?

I'm an experienced martial artist, and I tried swinging 2 nunchakus around once (like Li Long from Soul Calibur)

It ended with me having this painful brown bump on my forehead for 3 weeks :S

Yup, because all martial artists swing around nunchakus for defense. I would surmise you are not that experienced if you cannot masterfully, lethally manipulate two nunchakus at the same time. Hell, if Bruce Lee could do it, so can you. Just as...if you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a meteor.

That all said, still not the same as swinging around a magical long staff and a sword now is it??

The mistake I made back then was applying the same logic that I normally use when wielding my Tonfa or Sai. Or the Kama even :p But unfortunately chain weapons have a logic of their own...

For a sword and a staff, I think it's the same principle as a Sword and Shield: using the staff to deflect or block. Though it's obviously not as ideal

If they were One-Handed they would have even LESS Base Damage. Also you'd be able to Dual Wield them and that would raise issues in and among itself.

It would be ridiculous. I can only thing of one real world example vaguely like wielding two staves, and that is where the vikings would throw two spears at once - a very rare skill/technique for obvious reasons.

In the real Elder Scrolls staffs are one handed but neither games get it quite right. Also staffs should double as walking sticks..the resto staff gets this half right with the idle pose but then goes destro staff the moment you move.

On a side note, why does the destro staff have a different idle pose? The resto staff standing pose is great, it should be this way for both.

technically in the game staves are used by both players and npc's (including profit/varen, mannimarco and Abner Tharn) with one hand except for blocking.

Oh an I have swung around two swords before and sword and bostaff . I'm ambidextrous irl . It can be done if the staff is used for parry and the sword for thrusts and sweeps . Sweeping with the staff throws me off balance . You'd be amazed at the stuff we've done in the toy isle at Walmart .

This is Tamriel not Middle Earth. Also Gandalf is not the norm for magic wielders in fantasy; he was a demi-god. His power far outstrips that of normal fantasy characters be them in games or novels.

What about shield and staff . Then you wouldn't need to use two hands on the staff right .

I played a game that had wands that were one-handed, but did not allow you to cast spells unless you held only the wand or were bare-handed. Holding a wand and shield or any metal weapon disqualified you from casting spells.

It doesn't, and it still wouldn't make Tamriel and Middle Earth the same place, lol. But I'll give you points for a clever try!

Well the norm for most characters certainly isn't that they are immortal demi-gods/cosmic aspects of magic that resurrect when the mortal inhabitants of the world are in dire straights such as Gandalf was. Unless you think that is the norm. And then, well, that's just how you feel, man.
