I'm level 20 on my temp and i'm so bored right now, i still have to level my fighters guild, snb and dw skill line. So what motivates you to start a new character.

My motivation is finally completing vMSA once i level this char up.

Well, the main motivation now is that once you reach 160CP, each new level 50 Alt is eligible for max level gear.

I find that playing a new character is a breath of fresh air. I get to learn more about the story that I may have missed and find new things that I missed previously. Also learning a new class is always fun.

I started a new character a few weeks ago and had alot of fun doing it. I followed Deltia's leveling guide and only completed the quests so that I could get Cadwells gold and silver. That left out fighters guild, mages guild and all the minor quests and dungeons which I can finish when I feel like.

It was NOT boring at all as I hadn't done all of those quests since the start of the game.

If you are bored now what do you think happens when you get 501+ CP? People are complaining about lack of end game content. You have LOTS of content to do now. You will probably be MORE bored after maxing out.

Sometimes we lose interest and never return. Other times we return with a renewed vigor. It's all up to you.

I find I get bored quicker when I play with a ranged skillset or class. Maybe a class change or skillset change would help alleviate some of the boredom. Otherwise, a break from the game sometimes helps. If this level 20 character is your first and only character, I would say that is motivation enough to roll a new one. Playing another class, maybe even another alliance might kill your boredom.

I think the game is awesome. Idk if it has enough classes and different story per character to keep me invested long term. I do endgame at some point but my favorite part of rpgs is leveling and experiencing story.

The CP is capped and after playing all three nations, alts after that became ad nauseum, the only difference is builds. If this were a self contained game like the offline TES then 150 hours of an open but similar story is fine. Problem is that this an mmo which ask me to invest 100-1000s of hours.

Explanation of how many different reasons:
The blue points out freshness and the black points out freshness lost.

    1st Character
Race- No story gameplay created for it so it is just looks and passives
Class- No story specific gameplay for it so it is just skills and passives and looks
    Build- Stamina Tank,DPS, or Healer
    Daggerfall Faction- Unique Story
    Main Story- Unique Story
    Guilds- Unique Stories
    Craglorn- Unique Story
    DLCs- Unique Story

    2nd Character
Race- No story gameplay created for it so it is just looks and passives
Class- No story specific gameplay for it so it is just skills and passives and looks
    Build- Magicka Tank,DPS, or Healer
    Ebonheart Faction- Unique Story
    Main Story- Not unique anymore
    Guilds- Not unique anymore
    Craglorn- Not unique Anymore
    DLCS- Not unique anymore

    3rd Character
Race- No story gameplay created for it so it is just looks and passives
Class- No story specific gameplay for it so it is just skills and passives and looks
Build- Health Tank, DPS, or Healer
    Aldmeri Faction- Unique Story
    Main Story- Not unique anymore
    Guilds- Not unique anymore
    Craglorn- Not unique Anymore
    DLCS- Not unique anymore

    4th Character
Race- No story gameplay created for it so it is just looks and passives
Class- No story specific gameplay for it so it is just skills and passives and looks
Build- Already Tried Three Builds, and can switch this with respecs
Faction- Already tried all factions so no unique story
    Main Story- Not unique anymore
    Guilds- Not unique anymore
    Craglorn- Not unique Anymore
    DLCS- Not unique anymore

    5th Character
Race- No story gameplay created for it so it is just looks and passives
    Class- Already tried all classes
Build- Already Tried Three Builds, and can switch this with respecs
Faction- Already tried all factions so no unique story
    Main Story- Not unique anymore
    Guilds- Not unique anymore
    Craglorn- Not unique Anymore
    DLCS- Not unique anymore

1st Character= Fantastic and Amazing Story on first playthrough, everything is unique
2nd Character= Still pretty good but the only unique story is faction
3rd Character= Still pretty good but the only unique story is faction
4th Character= Still pretty good but the only unique story is faction
5th Character= No unique Story until a new dlc releases

Which is why I want some of the ideas below to come to fruition. To Increase replay-ability in terms of freshness and story.

    Racial Origin Story
    ClassCrafting Concept
    Faction War Concept
    Racial Passive Concept

I start new characters the way I start new characters in all the previous Elder Scrolls games....

    Infinite adventures :)

Normally I'd be bored as hell to create alts in other MMOs but ESO has done amazingly enough to give the proper Elder Scrolls feel, so starting a new character always sparks the feelings of exploration and wonder within me.

Heaps of reasons to start a new character - try a different alliance, try a stamina build, run a different role to see how the other third live (healer/tank/DPS), have fun leveling with a friend. Plenty of things to keep you interested if you enjoy the game.

Not sure how you could be bored running a Templar at level 20 unless everything is just too easy for you. My only Templar was my 5th character and I wish I had run one sooner.

Started my 6th character on the weekend and got to level 14 by Sunday night, which will give me a tank, healer and DPS in Ebonheart. The other 5 characters are all leveled up to 50 and I have reached the CP cap but still can't put the game down.

My motivation is to see how a character develops over time - I do not really go for a goal, I just live in Tamriel as the character and try to see the world from his/her perspective and follow the flow of his/her life. Due to what he/she is experiencing, there are tendencies to do this and that more and neglect or avoid other things - over time they become different from each other in many ways and that is what is interesting for me to experience. Unfortunately they share their friends in ESO, it would be better, if any of them could have his/her own friends.

I'm about CP 520, and I still have a TON of stuff to do. Finished Cadwell's Gold and Silver, Wrothgar minus VMA, and maybe 2 quests from IC, and basically none of DB or TG. That is the most I've completed on one character.

I have 7 other toons that have a ton of stuff to do. I PVPed over the weekend to get caltrops on my Stamplar, and I'm working on him now.

There's a ton of stuff to do, like get all 7 of my other characters ready for end game. And when I get there...who knows?

Then you will probably buy 4 additional slots and start the process all over again - altoholism is incurable.

Not sure about that. I already have 9 slots (I have a useless 1st toon sitting in a bank, ready to make food).

2 of each class, one magicka, and one stamina, is enough for me. But there's a lot of content that I need to do still. Perhaps I'll get around to PVPing when I get there.

Wanting to try something new in the game mainly. Currently have 4 toons I'm working on: A mag sorc DPS, a mag sorc tank, an argonian templar to run as a dedicated healer, and an Orc stam nightblade to replace the bosmer one I deleted back when VRs were still in place.

My main is CP 356 or so. I've completed all quests in all faction areas. Completed most all achievements and max out on all guilds, pvp, crafting, etc. I made a NB alt and levels to 50 in about 10 hrs. So I'd say my motivation is lack of content left to do. I'm not rushing to to grind levels anymore because once I reach cap I feel like I might get to bored and will prob have to go spend $50 on fallout 4 and $15 more so I can restart skyrim again.

my motivation was always to try build the best character, through trial and error. I created, deleted, recreated different racials so many builds since beta. deleted after nerfs, created after changes. I'm finally glad they are doing racial change options through the store. hopefully I wont have to keep remaking alts
