Grinding PVP For Skills For PVE...

It's soooo annoying and boring. But, I must do it in order to get what I need to be competitive on a PVE level... Granted it doesn't take as long as it used to, but still. Damn it's annoying. PVP died for me a long time ago, and feelings grow saltier and worse toward it day by day. But again, I need it...

I mean, say what people want about grinding lorebooks or skyshards, but there's misc. things you can do inbetween. Such as farm crafting materials amongst other things. But this... This just so damn... Hnnnnnng!

All you do is: Go to the keep or outpost with a group/zerg, die or live, take a resource, get pushed back by opposing alliance, and gather-up in the resource's tower. Farm AP on those willing to come recklessly rush in, until there's too many for the group you're with to handle. Die. Rinse and repeat. Over... And over... And over... All the while getting ganked inbetween, and getting kicked from the game and or having misc. oddities occurring. That's LITERALLY PVP in this game. Oh! And exploit and do unruly things for emperor.

I will be so glad once this newly rolled character gets Caltrops so I can get the hell on from here.

I don't know what type of PVP you're doing, or what server you're on that would enable you to pull that off — but no. Getting Caltrops in ~24hrs. is highly improbable.

OMg I just got undaunted on my main like a month ago and now I have to do it again on 3 other characters now that's a dam grind.It took me a day to get vigor and proxy det.Took me a year to get undaunted now that's a dam grind.

Grinding Undaunted in a day...? I don't know it's the heavy amounts of skooma these Khajiits got me hitting, but you must be on some other level stuff. What alliance are you? I'm in AD, and I have a lot of Khajiit buddies who can help move the work regardless of your position. Hook a Mer up with your connect or plug.

To me, your "all you do is" paragraph sounds like the most fun that can be had from the game

Compared to grinding PVE mobs that provide minimal challenge at best... PVP is the most fun way to level in my opinion!

I would also love to know how to get full Undaunted rank in a day!

I have 11 characters & none are above Undaunted rank 5... because you have to run soooooo many dungeons for one flippin' rank! I've never done pugs with undaunted dailies... so I have to wait till I can get 3 friends together to do them... which is rare.

Stop running in a pug group, killing a high cp guy on your own nets 1.9k~ per kill.

Zerging will get you no ap, either solo or small group with good players so you can kill larger groups than you easily, basically farm the baddies.

Wait for ticks, my highest tick is 86k, but you usually see 5-15k on big fights

I managed to get 1.1m ap and emp that day, got emp when i was around 800k~.

I would rather grind pvp than skyshards or lore books either one. And I am not big on pvp in this game but skyshards and lore books bore me to death. Pvpers have to grind more pve to be competitive than pve'ers have to grind pvp by far.

It really is a shame you don't play it with a proper group. Being able to communicate makes it so much more fun,and is also a lot more rewarding, and I don't just mean AP!

If you know what you're doing you can easily get it that quick. I mean I'm not even good at getting AP and I easily get 150-300k AP in a day in no cp campaign solo and small group. Obv you can get tons more in CP campaigns, like @leepalmer95 . Just gotta learn what makes AP and learn to pvp basically

I feel you. Also grinding out PVP on a Stamplar for Caltrops + Vigor.

Quite honestly, for me, it's a L2P issue. I'm a great Dungeon runner, but not a PVPer.

IC Sewer Ganking is fun and adrenaline pumping (stalked a group of two, one of them always checked inventory after killing mobs, while the other one moved on. When the one checked his inventory, I struck and killed him, and stalked the other guy and killed him too) but getting off on 1st strikes against mob farmers is hardly a good example of PVP.

Currently, I try to AOE zergs down with Aedric Spear ult + Blade Cloak + Steel Tornado.

Grabbing PVP ranks was easier on my magicka Templar.

Oh well, almost have vigor unlocked.

I finally have Caltrops unlocked on my Orc Dragonknight (stamina-based). I feel I can PVP now at a causal; slower pace now. It feels good to know that PVP no longer has anything that interests me now, although rather saddening at the same time. I used to enjoy PVP thoroughly, but now it just makes me bored and frustrated.

Maybe it is a "PVP L2P issue", but I just find stamina builds (except for Nightblade stamina builds) much longer to gain assault and support levels with in PVP — compared to magicka builds. Regardless, I hope you obtain what you seek as soon as possible.

Got vigor, then was kicked from server (probably because of insane lag). But I agree with you. The PVP levels take a lot longer to get on Stamina toons, because on Stamina, you can't spam Healing Springs and Regen for free AP ;_;

I am more into PVE as well, however the most skill that is frustrating to get is detonation, as for ap gain the most efficient way for me is repairing as i can get 70k ap in 2h from repairing, second favorite is defensive ticks.

Ok so some facts:
Vigor: 88k AP
Caltrops: 146k AP
Mag Deto: 224k AP

If you are zerging you can easily get 20-30k AP/hour, a decent small scale group can do 50k+ per hour. But even if you assume 20k/hour that is approx 4,5h for vigor, 7h for caltrops, 11h for magicka deto. If you suck at small scale or solo play then just zerg like 90% of the ESO population, but make sure to run eigther rapid regen/mutagen or spam poison injection on everything in range. Making AP really isn't that hard...

Assume every dungeon gives 20 untainted points, let it be daily or first completion. A fast run will take 20 mins including to find a group. Undaunted ranks 6-9 need 200 points each (don't know about the lower ranks), so let's calculate with 1k undaunted points. With the assumptions made before that's 1 point per minute, hence it takes 1000h/60 = 16.7h .ao the pure time to reach it is at least 50% higher than getting the last important PvP skill, not considering the limitations in points per day once you completed all achievements and only have daily dungeons left.

Unlocking caltrops (and vigor and proxy) is done faster than unlocking undaunted 9, if you know what you're doing.

The shoe is on the other foot in my case. I have to PVP to get Alliance skills for use in PVE.

Unless I am mistaken, Undaunted progresses at the same rate for everyone: complete a dungeon and get x points. Do a gold key and get x points. PVPer or PVEer, scrub or expert, you get the same payout. Not so with Alliance skills. If you're good at PVP, you can level them quickly. If you're as bad as I am, it's a whole 'nother story.

The standard advice may be to 'Git gud'. Thanks but I just want to git the skills and then git a one-way ticket out of Cyro.

You (among others replying here) do know you can raise Undaunted via Public Dungeons achievements as well, right? You don't have to just sit in queue hoping for Group Dungeon/Vet Dungeon pops...

I guess "a day" is also highly relative to when you are in the world, since every time I jump into Cryodiil it's an barren wasteland with barely anything going on. Mind you I don't' have Imperial City to gank hapless Tel Var farmers either.

i started alt, got 3 guildies with maxed out chars, we did first all 12 normal mode dungeons, in hour we did 10 dungeons and wee bit more and the last 2 done. undaunted lv 5 bam. then, farmed at old orsinium alt to cp rank, took 3h. then did all vr dungeons which took 4h. bam undaunted lv 7 and half, next day each vr dungeon did 4-5 more times to get missing achis. undaunted lv 8 and almost half, and surprise! next day i finished my last dungeon achis + daily gold and silver, undaunted nearly lv 9 and next day silver + gold again, and all done.

less than 24h gone tru it all

good preparation and tactics to get it all done smoothly and fast will make it very fast trip.

You can get Caltrops in less than 24h played, probably 5-6 hours are enough

This is basically what you do? Capture keeps among the zerglings? Is gonna take a lifetime like this... Go alone or with one friend camper a "hot" keep and farm defense tikets, all this after killing one boss in a random Cyrodiil cave.
