Where do I go to find out how many hours do I have left on my bounty? (26,694)?

If you're on PC, some addo-ons give you access to that info (RAETIA info hub for instance).

If you're on console, you're left alone with that (though you can always try to do your own math : see how much it decreases in one hour and figure out the rest).

Oh and one last question. If I just let the guard kill me and store my gold in the bank (prior)... would he be able to retrieve the bounty through my bank?

No, banked gold is safe gold.

No. As Ffastyl said, any gold in the bank is safe. But if you do let the guard kill you and you have no gold, you'll still have your bounty afterwards, and therefore still be Kill on Sight, so letting the guard kill you is essentially pointless.

And here I thought I'd exploit the possibility LOL

I had my first bounty today... about 4k gold. But I spent myself down to zip buying provisioning ingredients that, really, I didn't even need. I had no idea that it would take hours to remove a bounty. I couldn't travel to any city or the guards would kill (and dmg) me, only increasing my debt. I couldn't sell items from my inventory... no vendors would talk to me. So I spent like an hour in a Wrothgar dungeon killing orcs until I could pay it off. I guess there's other ways to solve the problem (pickpocketing, theft) but I got the bounty on the intro mission to TG and hadn't learned all that yet.

Anyway, it was a little surprising to find out that I'd have to run around in the wilderness for hours or log out because I killed a cpl npcs who were attacking ME at the time.

It was so much fun that I might just skip on to the next dlc and save that 'content' for later.

Bounties dissolve at a rate based on 2 factors:

    1. Your Level/Champion Rank.
    2. Your Swiftly Forgotten Rank.

Without the latter a bounty consisting ONLY of getting caught stealing an item and nothing more dissolves completely in 12 minutes. Bounty reduction ticks every 3 minutes regardless of any passives in any relative skill line. Once you see it drop take note of the amount and then do the proper math to see how long it will take your current bounty to dissolve entirely.

You can use the banker in a refuge to put stuff (gold, items you want to sell) in your bank and have an alt without a bounty pick them up and buy/sell stuff from your guilds at a regular banker.

Or go to Coldharbour. There is no justice system there, so you can use the bank in Hollow City without fear of being stopped by a guard!

Ah I never thought of that! Thanks! I was getting worried for a moment that my bounty would impact on me selling items.

But the best way to solve this is to get better at thieving and killing - I mean if you have such a high bounty, that means you keep getting caught.

If you decide to go to Coldharbour, just be aware that your bounty meter will disappear, so when you port back in to somewhere in Tamriel, go first of all to a wayshrine you know to be in an out of the way spot with no guard patrols ;) (yes, I have been caught out by that one, merrily porting back into the middle of Mournhold forgetting about my bounty :o )

Bounty should be visible on the character sheet when the meter is not in the corner of the screen, so you should be able to check there what it is before porting back to Tamriel. I don't think that shows Infamy though, so if you had a high bounty you won't know whether you're Fugitive (Kill on Sight) or not.

If you have the swiftly forgotten perk from the TG skill line, you can see how much is removed every 3 minutes in the description of that skill - and afaik that is as well the amount which is removed every 20 minutes, if you do not have that skill. But with your amount of bounty I would consider this to be a couple of days with swiftly forgotten and weeks otherwise.

Yeah you can use Swiftly Forgotten to work it out. If you do not have Swiftly Forgotten, the amount you lose every 3 minutes is half of the amount stated in Swiftly Forgotten I. So, for example, at Level 50, you lose 23 bounty every 3 minutes without any points in Swiftly Forgotten, and 46 with Swiftly Forgotten I.
