Cyrodiil is still horribly laggy with multiple crashes an hour.

    Light attack is broken.

Maelstrom arena FPS drops are at an all time high.

Constant crashes still occurring in busy PVE areas.

    Dlcs get smaller every release.

If you've got something else to play then play that.

I'd say that wether you "should" come back or not depends on why and when you left in the first place. If you left because lag and bugs and broken animations and mechanics, strange "features", and a dysfunctional Cyrodiil - probably not, give it another year.

If you left pre-Orsinium and because you had played through all the content and found writs and dailies boring, by all means try the DLC.

The game is still fantastic, which is why so many of us are still playing.

    Lots of issues on console since DB;

    Lag
    Characters stuck in Orsinium
Assets not loading in for ages
    Random loading screens

Sadly, yesterday's patch didnt seem to help

If you're coming back just to enjoy the game for story, quests and lore then do so. It's in a great place and a joy to play.

If you're looking for competitive end game or PvP then be warned it's in a mess right now due to various issues, can still be fun casually but if you're looking to compete on a fair playing field look elsewhere for now.

That being said ZOS have taken a two steps forward this week in fixing those issues, they deserve some love.

Youre still in the phase of thinking the next MMO will be 'the one'. It wont. What you have on the market today is pretty much what you can expect in the future as far as quality goes. In fact with the lack of proper financial backing I expect the genre to go downhill and devolve into a bunch of generic Korean imports and low budget kickstarter wannabe MMOs.

That's actually not true, we want more people back and playing the game because it increases revenue which ZOS can use to keep the game going or hopefully invest into areas the game needs *cough* GM/Security team *cough*

Unfortunately, I'd feel very dirty recommending ESO to anyone in its current state.

This game has so much potential, but it is a mess right now on console. I've played since PS4 launch and it was perfect back then! Sure there were performance issues at launch with bugs, but it mostly came from the flood of players and ZOS had things working quite beautifully one week later. So much fun.....

Nowadays, things have gotten so bad due to ZOS neglecting to fix issues each patch that they have compiled overtime, creating an utter mess performance-wise and gameplay-wise especially in Dark Brotherhood. (most recent patch)

We are not talking about a little lag here or there.... we are talking about a plethora of bugs and glitches which can be present in any encounter, horrible performance practically wherever you go, and no sign of ZOS apologizing for stuff like paid DLC no longer working or characters getting stuck in zones and crashing/freezing your game (no word on this even being fixed -_-).

With all of this said, ZOS is not foolish enough to re-release ESO as Elder Scrolls Online: One Tamriel without fixing many of these issues. Wait until they fix the game if on console before purchase.

If on PC I would still absolutely not recommend buying it, though you should look into other PC player comments for more insight.

Truly, I wish I could still recommend ESO like I always used to. I believe it is genuinely immoral for me to do this now though to someone who is looking for a working game.

I'm not, though. I look at things reasonably, based on what I'm interested in. I had 2 chances to hop ship and play other shiny new mmos, and I chose not to because I can actually tell when something is going to be worth it for me or not. I'm not an mmo hopper, I just happen to be waiting for another one to come out that I will invest in. I don't have anything else to play right now, so I'll stick around here for the few friends I have left in eso until I can put my time into CU.

I should 've read the forum carefully before buying the game . I've played in the beginning when the game came out on my bro's console and from back then it's like a day and night difference in performance , didn't even bothered to pvp since that was already broken from what i knew ..
It's quit frustrating and sad to see this great game in this state . I really do hope it's only for a period .
I'm gonna try today again , if it lag's again like yesterday i'd rather move on to some other game and wait for Skyrim :(

I was thinking of coming back with One Tamriel on its way. But holy smokes, seeing all this stuff about people literally not even being able to access their chars because they are stuck in zones that are completely bugged out is a huge red flag.

Has the company grown since their launch debacle? Or are they still as amateur as this current situation suggests?

It all depends on what you want to get out of the game.

For the most part PvE is bug free. Issues come and go but are usually rectified in a timely fashion. Although there is a serious lack of worth while end game PvE at this time. Unless you enjoy running the same dungeons or trials over and over again. Which is pretty on par with most MMOs.

PvP has gotten worse. With every DLC the lag in Cyrodiil multiplies, despite their numerous "attempts" to fix it. Classes are no where near balanced, nor are Stamina and Magicka based builds.

All in all I feel as though the development is still handled in a poor way. Bugs and glitches are not typically fixed for weeks after notification to the developers, some bugs from two years ago are still plaguing the game, the recent outburst of "Cheat Engine" was handled very poorly by ZoS as a whole and the list could go on.

I still play the game multiple times a week. Find the few things in it that I still enjoy and stick to those. I'm hopeful that eventually ZoS will get the kick in the butt that it needs to make the game great again. I don't hold my breath, though.

OP just asked if it was playable and people respond to that question , it's not an insult when one states that his game shuffles because of the lag or gets stuck because of a bug seriously .
If people bother like me to make login on this forum just to report this because i can't get much out of my game because it stucks the lag out then it's not just to be 'toxic' .
We all love the game , otherwise we wouldn't complain to play it properly . This isn't just another nerf thread or something , no it's about playing the game normally like for 10 minutes , that's all

    Peace !

combat has taken a unprecedented dive from launch. So to summarize, and this is just my opinion:

overworld zones are laughably easy, it would take a braindead monkey to find a challenge in overworld content, even craglorn mobs are laughably easy compared to befor

class balance is a constant issue, flavor of the month classes, both pve and pvp, is a constant problem, this month, sorcerers are trash in end game pve, learning curve decent in pvp

player to dev communication can be explained as thus:
players-this is wrong, and here is clear and factual data on why
devs- no, we are right, here is why we are right, completly disregarding your concerns in the process of said explaination

Prices on cash shop content are woefully mishandled and infuriating, making certian cosmetic items cost as much as full dlc content

ticket submission and customer support are ignoring bug reports because there are to many, and close said tickets without so much as 'we will look into it when we get time' but more like 'to much work, not gonna look into it'

please remember all of this is my own opinion, if you agree with me, yay, if not, whatever.

The character stuck thing is limited to consoles i believe dont quote me on that

I'm on PS4 and the being stuck thing happened to me a few times, but it's minor and not sure if it's just a console thing either. I was stuck between a rock after descending or got hit by an enemy wrecking blow and somehow thrown inside a wall or something. I just warped to a wayshrine each time. Costed 146 gold.. minor.

One tamriel will make all these issues worse and here is why

Wrothgar will have 3 times as many players trying to load in to the zone, creating more pressure on the servers and creating more potential for crashes

Lag will triple as a result

The quiet and out of the way towns people already use to escape lag and crashes will become laggy and prime spots for crashes

Load screens will become insanely long as three times as many people will have to be accounted for in popular locations

Grind spots will be come unplayable

Farming will become impossible as all aliances aill be farm the same spots and as a result the selling market will go beserk

Guild traders will be able to charge what they like for membership, "donations" will be extortion

Gold farmers will be everywhere and selling gold for feal life money even worse than they already do

It will be a complete nightmare

Before talking, should check what's going to happen. Zones will have a pop cap limit. When reached a new istance of the same zone will be automatically created. The game has its bugs, but, tell me OP, which game out there has no bug? This thread looks like a big troll.
