what was this thread about?? oh yeah.

i was wondering.. does anyone know of an addon if there are any settings to make it so my skill bar is always showing? i need this because i always forget which skills are where, or what skills i currently have on. not sure if this feature already exists in the base game or if there's an addon anyone can direct me to. thanks.

I have 6 Alts I play, so I am always forgetting what character has what skill equipped.

Advanced UI or AUI will do what you want. There are lots of modules so you can turn off most of it, or have it all on. Initially, your screen will get filled with stuff you may or may not want.

Come to think of it, it only shows me the skill bar during combat, I don't know if that is a setting or not. I can see my skill bar if I pull up the skills menu so that works for me.

Another methods is to set your skill bar up by function.

    1. Opener
    2. Buff Skill
    3. Spam Skill
    4. Spam Skill
    5. Recovery or Shield

The above is an example. But, I do this across my 4 characters so that if I need to, I can at least be effective in my rotation. Maybe not optimal, but I can move things around if I need to.

On Xbox, leaving the skillbar up all the time is an option under Gameplay.

You dont need an addon to see your skills on all the time, there is an option in the settings in game. Interface settings: 2nd one down, ability bar set to always show. Bam!

My general setup for 5 skills is:

    1. Opener or summon pet as Sorc (class ability)
    2. gap closer or pull enemy to me as DK (class ability)
    3. spamable skill (close, high damage) (class or weapon ability)
    4. spamable skill (ranged, execute) (class ability)
    5. poison injection for my bow (weapon ability bow)

I normally start with bow from max distance - holding mouse1 and launch arrows with 5 - if the enemy is getting too near, I do 1,2 and spam 3 or 4 dependent on the distance to the enemy until he is down. But normally the bow and a final execute with 4 is doing the work.

Is that a newer setting to have the skill bar up all the time? I admit I don't spend all that much time in the game play settings since the game launch, but I never knew it was there. I don't think I would have ever set it to be always on myself.

AUI does add things to the skill bar like letting you know your ultimate is up and ready, so I like that aspect.

Well, I do not have to think a lot with it - it is the same scheme on any character. Most fights are 5,5,4 - just rarely it is 5,5,1,2,4 or 5,5,1,2,3,3,4 or something like this - always the same scheme, regardless which character - well on a sorc 1 is just used once, but I can use it to refresh health again.

yeah goal with it is to not think at all - but let muscle memory do it.

I go with a general theme
    Gap closer on X
Ranged single attack / ranged AoE on Y
    Melee / spammable on B
    Self-buff / self-heal on Left Bumper
Channel ability / group effect / general utility on Right Bumper

X is far from the aiming right stick, and closing the gap gives plenty of time for the right thumb to move from X to the stick. B is close to the right stick.

Edit: the reason to shove a variety on one bar is because bar swapping on Xbox is unreliable.

Pretty sure it was added quite awhile ago... but when the game started I don't think it was an option @Nestor
