Actually EU PS4 maintenance times are good for me in UK as am at work.... :p
And they do give advance notice do its not like its a surprise.

But would be better if in early hours of the morning, say 3 to 5am BST?

For some people the times are good, for some they are bad. The times are *** for me, too. You can't make it right for everyone.
But I don't cry, because there are other things I can do in that time or other games I can play.

True,in some cases you cant satisfy everybody,
i think in this case they could satisfy more people though, they are just "satisfying" the players on the american servers atm imo.

I also did some other stuff when the maintenance came up and i have to do some other stuff in an hour or so,
there is more to life then just this or any other game,
making some drawings also while i am on this forum now,so i am making use of my time anyway.
    Thats not the thing though,
the thing is if we all just keep quiet when there is something we think that could be arranged better,
    nothing never will be changed.

And it's July, vacation time. Three out of four people in my household are currently enjoying their well-earned rest. I wanted to play some ESO and just now discovered it's maintenance time. Not a problem really, I have other things to do, but still, it's not middle of the night - not even morning. It's almost 2pm.

    And even so,
this is a forum about a game,
why would we need to defend what we are doing with our time to some ignorant forum stalking people..

    Because it's The Internet, duh.

I told you, it's a social experiment, there's no maintenance to be done, they just rent the community to a bunch of sociologists from some university to see what happens when nerds are left without the game for long periods of time.

I'd keep my eye out for scientific papers if I were you.

Even if its a "spam-thread" these posts about the maintenance times,
then the problem is that a big part of this comunity sees it like that and not like it is,
it is looking like a spam thread because apparently there are a lot of people genuinly having issues with this,
and since ZoS isnt doing anything about it there will be people posting it untill ZoS does something about it.

Beside that,a bit of information about whats happening when maintenance takes long, like last week,
isnt to much to ask from ZoS.
And then in a general post and not just hidden in a German post.

You might not realise, being relatively new to the game and whatnot, that people have been complaining about maintenance times since the very beginning. Those of us who have been around since then see any threads like this as spam since after 2 years the only changes that have happened is:

    1. Server maintenance is now done on Tuesday mornings since the guild traders reset at 2am GMT/BST and previously guilds would have to wait hours to find out if they were successful and then rebid on other spots if they weren't.
    2. Both megaservers are now being done simultaneously since it allows every player to get access to new content at the same time, and more aptly, allows ZOS to do one round of patching and maintenance at the same time which cuts costs.

You can post as much as you like on the forums and complain all you want about it, but just realise that you're farting into the wind and a lot of people don't like the smell.

Like, I don't usually comment on maint spam threads but, why can't you just admit that ZOS maintenance times are pure s**t for everyone apart from the US region. Sick of ppl trying to defend the undefendable.

Realistically speaking, it is not convenient and they could have worked out better hours to affect less players than they affect now. Just like the majority of the other MMORGS out there.

I'm talking about EU and AU and anything that's east of the US. And dont start with the work bs again. Working or not, it is more convenient for a maint to be happening during nighttime when the least ppl in the area the servers at, are affected.

I appreciate the fact they moved it a little bit earlier and it doesn't hit 4-5 pm prime time(hopefully), but I'm sure they can do more than that, if they wanted to. They make ridiculous amounts of money. There's ppl in EU(or anywhere else in the world for that matter) that play during morning hours too.

And before the cliche spam starts, I do work(I mean it doesn't matter if I didnt) and I dont give a flying f**k if there's maint going on, it's only a game after all.

But the truth should be told. And that is that maint times are bad.

    Exactly my point.

I realised that last week already,
i know i am not adressing something new,
but as long as they will keep forcing us to this Murika loving maintenance times i will keep complaining about it,
what other people on the forum wil do with these posts is up to them.

I heared about those guild traders also having something to do with the maintenance times,
that would be utherly ridiculous and unfair,
there are also players that dont care of guild traders.

And no comment given on the maintenance on both servers at the same time,
gave my opinion on that several times allready in this post and comments.

    • [IN PROGRESS] North American and European PC/Mac megaservers for patch maintenance – July 05, 4:00AM EDT (9:00 BST)
It is in the middle of the night? a bit hard to get it in the middle of the night for every single person around the world at once

European megaserver is separate from the North American one.
Belive me - there is no night time in the whole Europe at the moment - in the time when the European megaserver maintenance is being done.

Just a thought but is the server being remote administered by the people over on the East Coast United States. If so then you have your reason for the European maintenance being when it is.

I can't see why they would have patches installed by different groups of people. The same people do EU and NA, as well as PTS, on all platforms. These people are likely sitting on the US East Coast, and have to be at work on Monday morning at 4 am, now.

Since they do need to have North American server staff and QA staff when they do patches, these maintenance times will forever be when those people can work, no matter when it is convenient for the players. The 4 am maintenance time is quite early for them, and is probably because the EU server is lightly populated at this time.

They are also wise to do both the NA and EU at the same time. Even though the servers are in separate locations, the EU server clearly depends upon the NA data center for something. In this way, if they need to do data center work they don't have to do one-off maintenance times.

Regarding #1, I do wish they would move the maintenance days one day so that PC/Mac was Tuesday, XBox was Wednesday, and PS4 was Thursday, as they are doing this week. It does not force a maintenance early on a Monday and avoids any pesky holidays and vacation days that tend to hit on Monday and Friday.

Sadly, this week is an exception due to a US Holiday and next week they resume the Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday schedule.

The analogy was to highlight that your frustration and complaints were going unheard and unseen within ZOS' and the players radar. The smell is an analogy for those of us who have seen these threads countless times and see nothing new other than someone voicing their, previously mentioned, inconsequential opinion.

They are also wise to do both the NA and EU at the same time.

In ur,Murikan, opinian it may be wise,
but in reality its far from that.
Wise is what other MMORPG do when they do maintenance on different times for different regions.

I love how threads like this start with intention to alert about a minor problem that should be looked at and potentially solved by ZOS as its slightly annoying.

But then it devolves into extremist claiming/threatning ZOS with subs, playerbase loses over such a minor thing and the opposite side with all high and mighty "kids get a life" attitude like they dont understand this is a game forum and they themself are participating in it :D

    Plys proceed

To be fair, most people are in work anyway when it happens on Europe.

To be fair not all people work a 9 to 5 job.

    Just about 90% of people.

By you logic, no time is ever a good maintenance time as people may work awkward hours so play at 3am in the morning.

Most people work. Most people work between the hours of 8-6. So it doesn't have an impact on the majority of players. If it has an impact on you, c'est la vie.
