i used to think the droprate was okay.
i used to joke that i'd get flawless conqueror before getting a perfect maelstrom.
it wasn't a joke, and the best thing i have is a sharpened ice staff.

i'd trade the title for a sharpened fire or a dagger and axe in a heartbeat

I've given up on VMA. I run VSO groups multiple times a week and, on hard mode, actually get gear i want AND can use. And VSO runs take about the same time for our group as VMA. And VSO also gives me gear to sell, too. Sure, it requires a 12 person group, but the loot is worth it.

If VMA sets were good that'd be one thing, but I've gotten so many arcane rings of the hunt since DB its not even funny. I've not gotten decent Maelstrom weapon since the update due to the new traits. Of the few that have dropped? Several charged two handers... which a cruel, cruel joke.

Running the hardest content in the game should be rewarding, not punishing.

Got a precise ice staff... For my dunmer magicka build. and yup, I'm with you there, would trade all my other crap for what I wanted with no hesitation lol

Still better than any other staff. Took me 5 months to get one of them 7 for a fire.

If ZOS is set on not tweaking weapon drop rates, at least balance the weapon traits. Right now sharpened is head and shoulders above everything else, you're better off in most cases using a crafted non-set sharpened (with damage enchant) than any non-sharpened maelstrom weapon (other than axes/daggers and bows.) The bonus for sharpened can be cut in half and it'll still be the best weapon trait by a fair margin.

Charged has no place on maelstrom weapons. Powered should be there only for resto staves. Decisive only for sword and board.

Kind of miss running vMA, but then I remember the disappointment after each run and the sense of wasted time.

I honestly don't get why they took the 9th weapon trait and made sharpened WAY better.

Finished for the first time today, got a powered resto staff. Not what I wanted but I cant complain.

More jewelry, more useless traits, less chance to get weapons/useful weapons , more VMA runs needed for the desired weapon.
ZOS increased the replayability and lifetime of VMA by 100% with that last update, they're probably proud of their decision when they check the decrease of sharpened weapons drop rate in their statistic.
As things goes it seems like all the future VMA update will only lead to more randomness when it comes to rewards, they'll probably makes the last chest spawn 50% of the time on the next update...

so recently all I am getting is resto staves, I have maybe 14 now? not sure been deconstructing them. I have done about 10 runs in past 3 days from there I have gotten maybe 4 resto and then rings. I am 100+ runs and still no flame staff. Had lightening twice which is useless for me. I am tired of this stress and bugs and lags but I have spent like 3 months now farming and I can't give up. I am wondering if it's rng for example how come destro is the only staff everyone wants and hardly anyone gets, how come that every other run i am getting resto staff. What are the chances, are the chances of resto more somehow?

Funny thing is they never reply to those threads, seeing skilled frustrated people but waait when casuals cry about difficulty of dungeons and such they get nerfed ASAP

can't really call it unlucky if there's threads like these with other people having the same experience

But I got nervous cuz like 17 ppl were watching and saying you grabbed the wrong sigil wtf newb you'll never get stormproof (which I already was lol). I got the boss down to about 7.3ish% ten times in a row and I choked and it was awful cuz my food ran out and I'm actually good at the game but people on twitch are like #sorcfail and I dropped my controller on my plate and my dog pooped on the floor and my guild mates were watching and like hey man we actually found another group for tonight on an unrelated note and yeah I tried it again last night and beat the boss in like 3 tries?

So yeah farm it live man less boring

Also tryi streaming normal maelstrom and play the whole thing in first person mode. Very funny.
