Just never forget, wealth is not a Zero Sum Game (if you know what that means then you know what I mean).

Those of us reading the 'tea leaves' have known that f2p was the future (no matter how much we railed against it). It's so ironic than... But I guess in this world it makes sense, that 'free' games make a ridiculous amount of money more that 'pay' games. Just shows how easily people are fooled.

I still don't believe "FTP is the future." I think it is more a self-fulfilling prophesy of Marketing 101 ditto-heads.

If tripe is all that's on the menu, people buy tripe. Doesn't mean it tastes good.

Of course people are easily fooled, just like they think meanwhile, that they would save something, if they buy big packs of stuff, where they need just a single item of - but they take a "buy 3, get one free" offer and think, they have saved 33%, while in fact they paid 100% more than necessary and have now 2 items more, where they are not likely to ever use them - be it because technology is advancing and by the time, where they would need it, they rather go and buy the modern version instead. Or if that is not the case, you can expect that the "buy 3, get one free" offer is at least 50% overpriced, to compensate - so you bought 3, and paid for 3 - you saved nothing at all, but have bought 2 items more than you really need - that is how distorted the customer view on sales is nowadays.

    snip....

This scheme was tested with rats - an easy game where rats could get an incentive, which was made valuable for them (neuro-transmitter rich incentive, which stands for "success") - and these rats "played" it, and a large part of them played it even to a point, where they neglected food and water - just by making it so addictive and supported by a conditioning scheme. MMOs are much like this as well and one has to manage playing behavior carefully to not fall for it.

its not like lab rats have much in the way of choice in the matter.

I like how the "free to play" market generate more money than the "pay to play".
I'm gonna ask to my friends who play class of class how much is free to play experience has costed...
