Preventing a Huge Download - Copying Files from Live Server Folder?

I've tried every way that I can think of to copy the files from Live into the Currently Downloading PTS Folder, force a verify, and see if it will just patch the files instead of redownloading everything.

So far, no luck. It insists on downloading the entire thing from scratch.

Is there something i'm missing? Some way that I can make this work? Or is the full download the only way to go.

    As far as I know you have to download it all... BUT you don't need to every time. Do it once and leave the pts installed for next time and it will just update

    Unfortunately, the way that files are packed in ESO means this will only rarely work to actually decrease the amount you need to download. If they had a smarter patcher that was able to do a "diff" inside the individual compressed files stored in each DAT file you'd see far smaller patch downloads. I assume the reason it isn't done is in order to be compatible with PC, PS4 and XBox.

    The 60+ GB download is one of the things which stops people from coming to the PTS for testing. A lot of people simply can't afford that much bandwidth to get started on the PTS, and the longer they leave it, the bigger the download gets.

    It's also what stops me from playing on both the European and the North American servers. I have free internet between midnight and 8 am, but I spend 4-5 hours of that time on ESO already.

    It really should be easier to switch servers and to download the PTS.
