Make Console Text Chat Perfect Plz

Okay so we know that Text Chat is going to be coming in the next couple of months and we want it to be perfect. Let's not forget that we still don't have a mute function on consoles. We are literally forced to block the player on PSN/XBL. So here's a couple things that should be implemented:

Add the ability to link items from inventory into chat
Add the ability to block/ignore players (I'm watching you Gold Sellers)
Add the ability to hide the chat box (MAKES IT COMPLETELY OPTIONAL - DON'T EVEN HAVE TO USE IT - WOW!)
Add the ability to change the opacity of the chat box
Ex:
Add individual tabs for different groups (Also allow creation of your own tabs for created groups)
Ex:
Vindictus

Warframe
Make zone-chat, actually zone-chat. Not proximity chat. Zone as in, the current piece of land you are in (Glenumbra, Auridon, Stonefalls, etc)

If you have another good idea, comment below and I'll add it in!11!! Remember, when it was more options to suit our taste, it'll be a lot better!!!

Nice ideas.

Is there any info from ZOS anywhere as to how they will implement text chat? Will it be an optional window on the UI or will it be only available in the menu structure when you hit the options button on ps4? My honest guess is it will be the latter so as to keep with their concept of a clean minimal Main game UI.

Not that I am complaining as anything is better than nothing!

The hide box is guaranteed, they have said it is optional and if you check the old ESO Lives with console gameplay pre-console launch you can see the hidden chat box in the bottom left of the screen for the PS4.

The first two are currently available for PC so we should get those as well, hopefully.

Perfect chat is without zone chat. If they add zone chat, the idea behind GAHs become pointless, everybody learn the prices from zone chat and soon all GAHs has exactly the same prices. Cyrodil zone chat just means organized zerg action, as a former PC player, who played it over 1 year, I prefer console myself.

What i hope is that they give us every option or close to every option th2 pc version has.

I would be sad to see it getting added with just zone chat and Nothing more but well its better then Nothing.

Hope we get whisper group and guild chat etc and area chat and chatbubbles

Just throwing this out there....

If it's not a chat box (based on what ZOS said on ESO live) I'm not sure what plans they have but for zone chat stuff I posted an idea long ago in other threads that offered a full interact able social tab based chat where the controller was freed up as its out of combat UI.

The tab so to speak could be toggled to show on screen outside of the social tab but offers more options to link, click linked items and manage chat tabs within the menu. Basic typing would still be available outside of the tab.

Again....if it's not text box as originally stated if they add it, it wouldn't be what's on PC, I'm curious of what direction they are going.

they are lazy it´ll be a simple copy of the pcs chat box with a slight adaptation to fullfill controller needs.

That's exactly how the current chat box on PC works. I have a tab for global chat, one for party and one for each of my guilds... the opacity goes down automatically and it eventually hides.

If they are silly enough to try and reinvent they wheel and do anything other than a traditional chat box and *** it up they will have a massive *** storm. Play it safe ZOS do it as the computer and keep the players happy is my advice, please.

Lol....lazy. I'd not say that but instead, understaffed

But I use the game pad UI whenever I get on PC and to be honest, if I didn't have a keyboard and mouse, the chat box isn't user friendly to those who would have only a game pad and keyboard. The benefits of the mouse or mouse like options are game changing because the mouse brings the magic.

For the sake of a huge uproar...whatever comes, let's hope it's functional. I'm open a lot as long as it makes sense.
If it's something different, but useful, I might even use it

I get what you're saying NBS but let's hope that it is like the PC because hey let's face USB mouse and keyboard, or just keyboard everyone had one in this day and age. They can make it limited in size and location that is fine so bam mouse isn't needed just need the keyboard seeing as you can't move or resize and I'm fine with that but again considering how long we've been begging for this, they *** it up they have serious problems since the PC works fine and they can copy and paste, making sure at least it is coded right for the console. Understaffed I get it companies these days love to work with skeleton crews to maximize profit but then that is on then as a company and they get absolutely no pity from me as a result. If your understaffed as a regular thing then they need to hire more, if they refuse to do so then they deal with the consequences of poor, slower work and an angry customer base.

Oh and PLEASE put a limit on messages in zone chats, like.. if a player says the same thing 3 times, 1 after another, they cannot type anything else for a minute or something... similar to Twitch/WoW text chat, I guess. I don't know if that already exists on ESO's PC text chat though.

Yeah I don't even think it would be complete. Sure PC has gamepad options but is it even optimized for that mode?

Yes it does someone posted a screen shot of it in the PTS section of the forums.Did either one of you read the PTS patch notes?They mentioned you can check out console text chat by equipping a game pad.

Love how Warframe handled text chat. As long as what you have in your post right now gets added, I can't complain.

Make sure it is polished and not rushed. We don't need the text chat being buggy somehow. That's all I got.

Not bad. No tabs though for organization. Let's hope it's not finalized!

Maybe it will show up on screen but you can go into your menus and find it like this (much bigger and with the full history).

We will have to wait and see.

This feels like running vMA and hoping for a Sharpened Greatsword! Pretty low chances of getting what you want, but it is possible and you can also get something which is similar and good enough.

What it looked like pre console release was a box in the bottom left corner that could be closed (like PC). I'm hoping we get that with this huge pop up only appearing if you activate the message box. I think @MizzBizz said she couldn't really test it for console because as soon as she tried to use it with a keyboard it went to the PC controls.

@KingYogi415 the PSN messages app works well

The ps4 app does make a good keyboard.

My App idea is like a fallout 4 companion app.

The whole text box could be moved to phone or tablet.

Dcuo also handled their text chat very well with adding and worldwide lfg chat and trade chat but keeping their zone chat exclusive per zone which was how it should be handled. i cant remember how FF14 had theirs but im sure its better than what consoles have waiting for them with this itteration. hopefully its not finished and they will add another side of it in the next incremental or show it off on eso live. warframe had a nice text chat system aswell and had an easy to use whisper system and invite system which was reallly nice.
