Launcher disappeared

I logged off the game this afternoon, nothing unusual. Came back to play and the launcher is missing from the "recently opened" menu and I can't find it on the computer at all. Using an iMac from late 2015 running el capitan 10.11.5.
Searched the forums for information on this and found only references to this problem from 2014 on a PC.
No problems prior to this except that some of the sound effects had stopped working - people have already posted about that issue in other discussions.

✭✭@grimjim398, the Launcher.app should be in the folder
/Applications/ZeniMax Online/
If it isn't, you could try to restore it from a Time Machine backup.

grimjim398✭✭✭There was no Zenimax Online folder in my Applications folder; I checked for that. There is no such folder there even now after I have reinstalled the game - and I did not change the default installation location for the game. The game folder appears to be sitting on my desktop and I am not sure where it is supposed to be. But I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to be there.
Game is up and running again. I am going to duplicate the launcher so I have a couple of copies of it.0
