I wouldn't mind access to some of the content though and would be happy to "pay" for it though advertising support. If they made an "Allow sponsored ads for content" check box I'd be all over that.
I would gladly take 30 seconds to have a dialogue with the spirit of the defeated mantacora about why I should take a minute to order a pizza or book residence on airbnb or whatever before the next pull. I don't know why mmos have never done this or had branded environments that generate sales traffic. Golden opportunity here, literally.
This is the kind of thing I would never accept - I would be gone for good.
If you were a paying customer you wouldn't experience branded environments at all. It would just be an alternative for ZoS to monetize paywall content that is off their demand curve for the price they have chosen. You could safely think of it like Spotify. I pay for Spotify because I like music without ad breaks. I pay for Netflix and Amazon prime because it is easier than torrenting. I bought a fallout 4 season pass because the content interests me. I don't pay for MMO subscriptions because I don't think the content is that interesting. They could monetize that opportunity cost with branded environments that only are experienced by those who don't find value in their offer. Furthermore, they can provide player liquidity to their paywall content to make experiencing group content easier for their cash customers. This could reduce wait times for tanks and healers in group queues.

I feel that jamming more and more stuff like dyeing costumes is pretty crappy especially when I have been a loyal player when stuff like that should be in the base package. If everything is going to end up having a fee with no regard to loyalty then I might move on from this game and only come back to sub one month a year just to blow through the stories. All of the lore with none of the cheap money grubbing tactics.

If you buy lots of Crown packs, what's the problem with buying a little less of them and subbing instead ? Just buy one less crown pack every 3-4 months or so... I mean, you do get crowns for sub.
The understanding of Tamriel Unlimited is that you wouldn't need a subscription to play any of the game. That is the whole point of the game going buy to play. It means players could buy dlc and avoid the reality that comes with most subscription only games. It's the same kind of story that people who want to cut the cord on cable. It's not that people expect stuff free but they don't like the concept of monthly fees. And many people have cut the cable by switching to internet services like hulu, roku, netflix, etc. Yes those services still have monthly fees but are typically cheaper than standard cable.Korah_Eaglecry wrote: »As of last year before they launched on Console. Most opted NOT to sub because they felt there was no value. Now that the subs are being given more value. Suddenly its an issue. The funniest thing to me is those who proclaim to spend money on the game every month. Even more than subs and yet havent gotten in their heads yet that if they took just a portion of what they spent every month and put it into the sub. Theyd still get the Crowns as well as the benefits of the sub. So at this point Im convinced the vast majority of those outraged over Crafting Bags and now this Costume Dye set up is just outrage for the sake of being outraged.
This forum is filled to the brim of people being upset with things for the sake of being upset. They have no real reason or concern. But drama and such gives a more desirable immediate reward chemically than being happy with something.
People subbed before the crafting bags and the costume dye set. I see countless posts here that says they have been subbed since launch. My issue is not with ZoS offering minor perks to subscribers, they should offer even more minor perks than they have been. My issue is these the bags and dye system are in no way minor. One makes the alternate way to access it very cumbersome with it's impermanence and the other is not even available in the base game.
As a non subscriber they can no longer craft as comfortably as a subscriber or dye as often as a subscriber without venturing into the crown store everytime they want to change something. I would at least like to see an addition of 200 crafting spaces for sale and a dye dlc that somehow offers a permanent dye access. Having to visit the crown store anytime I want to customize something makes the game feel like a free to play micro-transaction store.
It is no longer Tamriel Unlimited but Tamriel Limited. But it seems since the announcement there is no going back and rather than constantly state how wrong it is. I opted to ask for more affordable and scaled subscription packages.

Why, thank youI've been a subscriber since the beginning.
I'm not a fan of free to play games. They seem to attract too many obnoxious teens.
unfortunately thats just a staple of all online games. And its definitely not just teens. It brings a lot of less than desirable adults out of the woodwork as well.
F2P attracts Brazilians and Russians, who are too poor to buy into B2P and P2P games for the most part, now, the Brazilians and Russians I've met while games are P2P or B2P, fine people, since they're paying and invested in the game, they are a lot better mannered, don't cheat or hack or grief, most of them even speak pretty good English.I can't speak for Russians, but there are some factors that lead to that behavior in Brazil. But when a game goes F2P? It's awful, chat channel gets spammed with Portuguese or Cyrillic, and the "BR's" bully and grief everyone trying to chase anyone NOT BR off the server. In TERA it was BR's, on LotRO it was Russians. I don't entirely understand why but people from those 2 particular countries flood F2P games and make them awful.
Games in Brazil are generally seen as a "kids thing". I find it somehow hard to find other Brazilians of about my age (24) that like games, especially in my field of work (I'm a lawyer). Because of that, A LOT - and I mean it when I say A LOT - of the people who play games here are very young kids. Because of the stigma and the high price of electronics here, most kids have to make choices regarding what they want to play, and they will choose F2P games because then they can choose more games. Oh and our public education system is absolutely dreadful, you have no idea. It is a huge challenge to find a kid that actually learnt to speak English in school, and not by doing private classes or even teaching themselves at home.
And really, they behave awfully because there are little to no consequences to that behavior in most F2P games. No one is there to give them a slap on the wrist. Their parents don't care about what they are doing online. The Brazilians you see in B2P and P2P games are usually adults who have their own income, hence the different behavior.
I'm speaking from experience. I played both F2P and P2P games in Brazilians servers on the last 10 years.

I'll sub again once dungeon finder is working and the constant load screen issues are fixed.
Thirdly, the way ZOS dealt with the whole cheating and exploiting issues, from the crafting surveys to the CE debacle, was an exercise in how not to handle this sort of issues in an online game. No real hard punishments, overturned bans for proven cheaters and non-existing communication with concerned players.

What did you expect ZOS to come out and scream all over the net : "Hey we did X to stop cheating and hacking !" ? Like seriously did you think they were going to talk to everyone about it ? Like just so that the cheaters know when they can't cheat anymore so as to not get caught ? Like so that they could figure out a way to bypass X to hack the game ? Like seriously did you think they would communicate with all the people on the forums who bash and insult them constantly about their incompetence ? People have been screaming and making a million different threads instead of sending in-game reports, which is what ZOS has asked everyone to do. No, no one listened they just kept making threads and menacing to spread the word to all the gaming critics, which could result in a serious drop of reputation for the game and a turnaway for newcomers. I agree that ZOS don't treat customers the best way possible (lack of communication, etc.), but we treat them like rubbish too.
It is also their job to ensure that there will be no cheating in the game. They can't tell everyone what they do and how they do it. And it is a right for people to stay anonymous even when they infringed a law or in this case a game condition of use. They are still humans, and humans have rights. Thats why Zeni asked people to stop naming and shaming, but guess what, no one listened. Those guys had proof against hackers, but don't forget the people who named those cheating f*ckers also infringed the conditions of game use by openly not respecting their right of staying anonymous, which is a shame. At court for example, you can't provide evidence by illegal means, otherwise the evidence will be dismissed. So in this case, people were naming and shaming which is against the game "laws", so its a form of illegal evidence so it had to be dismissed. Don't get me wrong, I agree that it is stupid, I hate it, but thats the way it works in the game and in life.
To wrap this up, none of us here on the forums have any sort of information on the punishments that the cheaters received and I strongly believe that they did get punished, its just none of our business. We don't have to know what happened to those guys. Don't directly assume that nothing happened just because you don't know what happened.
Bottom line : do not spit at the devs when you know nothing of the issue. They worked their asses off to provide you with a game that you all enjoy. Anyway, help Zenimax fix problems, don't make it harder for them.
