Subbed in the beginning and cancelled when it went b2p. I then came back a few months to check on it and was pleasantly surprised it wasn't a horrible p2w game. And I have now resubbed for another 6 months and have spent money in the crown store to boot....well because I can't wait for my crowns to come back by the next renewal.

I cancelled and left the game for a little while in the past when I got utterly frustrated with the state of AvAvA. But other than that when I've played it I've almost always been an ESO Plus member, as I believe in paying a monthly fee for MMOs (perhaps just getting old with that view).

The Crafting bags, and now dyeable costumes, are a very nice bonus. Yes. Especially Crafting Bags; that's something that affects all of my characters in a positive way, every time I log in.
If you can be anything, be kind.

I bought some of the DLC and when I'm ready for the rest I will buy it too. While I'm glad the rest of you are getting great perks for subbing I really see no reason other than to support the game, which is what I'm doing buying the DLC.

Maybe when I'm a little more financially stable I'll throw more money at the game just to do it but right now I'm really enjoying the free to play and that's all I really need.

Also there seems to be a level cap increase perk with subbing but I cant be sure. This MIGHT be a reason for me to sub when I hit max F2P level.

i wonder where this rumor comes from that there would be a level cap perk - ZOS said nothing about that and it would as well not be wise to offer such a perk. Better watch the live show yourself, here it is https://www.twitch.tv/zenimaxonlinestudios/v/74304741

Well reading the Store was kinda confusing. Plus I think there is a rumor or joke about ESO+ perks. But its good to hear we are still on the same playing field regardless of no/sub.

@Shaun98ca2 level cap (level 50, max 160cp gear and max 501cp) is the same for everyone, that's not different for subscribers. I sub because it's my preference and I was already used to it from before the B2P model, absolutely nothing wrong with purchasing the dlc you can afford/what interests you :) The perks they have recently added a pretty cool, but some people will like them more than others, such is life.

Eso+ does get 10% more XP, but the cap is still the same. So that 10% extra isnt helping if you are already at cap :) that might be what you were thinking of.

Plus I'm already leveling TOO fast out leveling all the content. I guess One Tamriel cant get here fast enough. By that time I will be max level and I'm taking my time.

Once my bag is full and costume is dyed, there's little to keep me subscribing in this patch because there's barely any actual content. Two dungeons. That's it. And no actual recognition from ZOS as to whether we'll be getting proper sized DLCs in the future. Must have asked that question 10 times during ESO Live yesterday.

So if your at the end of the game, waiting for more content........ZOS is NEVER going to keep up on dealing out content fast enough to ever keep you happy. FYI not just you but MANY others like you.

Once you have seen it all and done it all....... Maybe its time for a long break till you cant remember all the quests perfectly. I actually stepped away for almost a year or so now returning to start from scratch - CP points I had from my previous character.

Some good long time away cant hurt. I'm sure the game will be here in another year or so.

Wow, pretty nice poll, love it how you didn't colour the options to show your own personal bias and gave so many choices.

My case is exactly that I have been a subscriber since day 1 and dropped my sub recently for several reasons.

For starters I don't believe in free to play. I'm sorry, but if the game takes money to develop and maintain, then you should pay to play it.

Secondly, I hate microtransactions with a passion for the dishonest money grab that they are. They don't reflect the cost of developing and maintaining the game, but rather create a wholly artificial monopolistic market that preys on people's impulse decisions.

Thirdly, the way ZOS dealt with the whole cheating and exploiting issues, from the crafting surveys to the CE debacle, was an exercise in how not to handle this sort of issues in an online game. No real hard punishments, overturned bans for proven cheaters and non-existing communication with concerned players.

Lastly, and this was the last drop for me, I think the switch to the combined sub/microtransactions model has hurt the game, and we've seen it clearly with the last 2 DLC (puny size, zero replayability value), with the ever-increasing grind (glass motifs, anyone? Seriously, 14 pages, each of which requires 10 fragments that are tied to non-repeatable daily quests plus a 10k gold "resin", and that could still get you duplicates until the end of time?), the dominance of BoP...

I have very mixed feelings about the upcoming update. I like the idea of appearance changes and costume dyeing, though these were looong overdue. I *don't* like the idea of race changes (seems like an admission of the current imbalance of racial passives), though i can live with it. I hate the idea of a DLC consisting of dungeons without a corresponding zone to explore. I hate the idea of One Tamriel where all zones are battle leveled.

I still have time on my ESO+, so I'll play it out until the end and decide then whether to subscribe again. One thing is for sure - I will not play as a non-subscriber, so it's either I think the game is worth the monthly payment, or I don't play it at all.

+1 pretty much sums up my thoughts at the current state of the game. Thank you.

Was about to buy some crowns to play Imperial City with a few friends when I saw that ESO+ was the same price as just 1500 crowns without benefits, so I thought "why not".
Must say I'm liking the crafting bag (my bank went from 129/130 to 2/130) and I'll probably keep it for a while.

And if they are gonna roll out smaller DLC packages it saves me from having to think about purchasing them.

Supported the game for more than 2 years, but now I'll let my eso+ run out (4 days left). I can't convince myself to spend money on a game where talking about cheats on the forum is considered worse than cheating itself and where they tell us that people who buy the game and leave after 2 weeks are more important than loyal customers.

I purchased the game, imperial edition and any race any alliance. I have purchased almost every costume offered. I unsubbed after the TG dlc. The dlc's did not impress me in the least, not a one of them. Not worth buying and not worth subbing for to me. When they make the craft bags and costume dying purchasable, (and they will) I'll buy those as a one time deal though. I will never sub to this game again. Ever.

i came from a "free to play" with a few other were we were spending at least $20 a week on the game.

we all now only pay $15 a month. . .

free to play is a lie, the "mium" in freemium is latin for "not really" and ESO plus is cheap and a great deal.

and if your one of the proud turds that proclaims "i have never spent any money and never will rawr rawr" then you don't get to comment on the game, and if you leave that's fine the game would not want you because your a d**k!

Free 2 play does not exist at all.

But In this game you cannot even earn crowns in game, like the currency in other f2p games. that makes it automatic pay 2 win. So they never stopped being a subscription game.

The difference between a game, in which you can earn in game currency and games you are not able is essential. Even if the gain is minimal, it is your free decision to buy some more, to speed up the process.

Here, in this game you MUST buy the currency with real money. It's the only way. You are forced to do it, if you want to buy the DLC. And for that matter, this game is never free 2 play, because you are not able o get all content for free. It's in all aspects Pay 2 play, and even more pay 2 win.

Three of us in my family play ESO, and we all subscribe. We feel its worth the cost for the entertainment it gives. We also believe in supporting the game we enjoy. MMOs are incredibly expensive to make and maintain, and if we want to see AAA MMOs continue to be made, then we have to show there is a customer base for the investment required.

ESO is great value, a true AAA MMO.

I wouldn't be using ESO+ for anything. ZoS has proven to not care about the customer multiple times. Only reason I am still playing is because I like the gameplay. But I won't be giving any extra money to the devs.

Well, in the live show they said, they are working on something to catch those using 3rd party software to cheat. This is not on the live servers yet, but it is coming. And they said as well in the live show, that once that is implemented, that there will be perma-bans. So I think they are getting serious with this soon, it is not that they would just ignore it, they seem to just not have had the means to actually monitor this yet - but this will change.

Sadly though, they said this exact same thing when they perma-banned some players and then they turned around and un-perma-banned. However, they did stress in ESO Live that some of the things were already being implemented to detect cheats and other anti-cheat updates would be coming soon... so "cheaters be warned" was basically what they were saying.

I have forgotten a lot of them. xD

In my case, I couldn't run ESO on my PC so I've been waiting for the console release. I wanted to sub but when I saw there was only the 30 days option, I decided to only buy the DLC's with the collectors bundle as I'm already subscribing to Playstation Plus to play ESO and I'm not very interested in mounts, pets, etc. I bought my crowns on sales except for the first pack, it was a good deal.

I wanted to sub back then, but it didn't feel like a better deal to me but then came the crafting bags and all went crystal clear, I am an ESO Plus member since and I am still buying the DLC's with the collectors bundle, it's like a DLC cost 500/700 crowns and in case I have to save some money for whatever may happen in real life, I can still play the whole game if I have to drop ESO Plus. I'd like to see the 6 months option coming to consoles too, that'd be an even better deal to me.

Anyway, I have read all your comments and will continue to do so, I am very curious of whatever reason you choose to subscribe or not. The dyeing perk seems not very incentive for now, I think that the crafting bags did that before this new perk had his chance. ;)

I subscribed after buying the game (around 1 month ago). The main reason was to have access to all DLC to see which one would I buy. After the DB DLC I realised I was going to get a crafting bag and since I am happy with the game I will keep my subscription as long as I keep my full time job

I'm not really interested in a subscription model nor do I miss any of the offers related to one. I wouldn't mind access to some of the content though and would be happy to "pay" for it though advertising support. If they made an "Allow sponsored ads for content" check box I'd be all over that.

I would gladly take 30 seconds to have a dialogue with the spirit of the defeated mantacora about why I should take a minute to order a pizza or book residence on airbnb or whatever before the next pull. I don't know why mmos have never done this or had branded environments that generate sales traffic. Golden opportunity here, literally.

I've never had a sub and probably never will. I wouldn't rule it out completely but I can't imagine anything that would persuade me to sub instead of simply buying the things I want directly.

The nearest I'm likely to come is subbing for a month to try out different DLC so I can decide which ones I want to buy.

There's no option for: subscibed since launch, dropped the subscription for most part (re-subscribing when new content was released until I'd racked up enough crowns to buy it) after it turned out they lied about sticking with the subscription model, and then re-subscribed for DB because the crafting bag was worth it in my opinion, whilst hording my monthly crowns in case they decide to sell the crafting bag in the crown store.

Been playing ESO since beta and initially subscribed, but when my subscription expired shortly after the launch of Tamriel Unlimited, I didn't notice any difference at all in my gameplay experience as a non-subscriber.

Really enjoy ESO, but was glad to hear monthly fees were no longer required, as I prefer to simply purchase games and not pay any subscription.

After dark brotherhood update, I recently subscribed again only because it was the cheapest way to get crowns for purchasing extra character slots. However, after experiencing the convenience of crafting bags and how much fun the Imperial City is, now I plan to continue subscribing.
