With the current "random traits on random types on random drops" triple RNG system?

    OH HAAAAAAYEL NAW.

IF they let us re-trait or buy perfect gear with TOKENS that drop in the associated content?

    MAYBE.

RNG in this game is atrocious; absolutely horrible. I have 11 characters. I will be damned if I need to grind thousands of hours just to min/max them again. Grinding for the perfect drops all over again is not fun. I am sorry if the OP feels he has no need to play anymore. But don't force the rest of us to start from scratch just because he lacks incentive.

Did you not do the same thing to go from V10 to V12, V12 to V14 etc?

Now, there is no need to grind for XP at least. And there is a vendor for the monster helms.

@IcyDeadPeople There is a big difference. I started console so I wasn't around when things progressed from 12-14. When the gear changed from v14 to 16 tho, things were completely different. Most sets in the game were BoE and solo content like vMSA was not yet a thing. Also, gold mats were considerably cheaper then (not too mention there was the pig farming exploit to upgrade the new stuff easier).

Now almost everything is BoP, the best weapons are locked behind solo content, and we just had a bunch of new garbage traits introduced to end-game gear. Simply, it will be a nightmare to try to farm a perfect divines SPC, divines Scathing, ideal Maelstrom Weapons, etc. The only saving grace is that they may be introducing a way to trade within groups, but still with the RNG in this game being as bad as it is, I do not relish the thought of grinding for and upgrading CP180/CP200 gear.

Until/unless we have some way of at least upgrading existing gear (if not re-traiting as well), then they should raise the gear cap never. There is simply way too much BoP gear obfuscated behind boring grinds and crappy RNG.

Yes but with an option added to crafting to upgrade out gear to the new caps. Having to toss everything again after just getting alts instantly to 160cp and spending a fortune on getting them geared up would anger a lot of people.

Personally, I enjoy grinding out new sets and would be happy with getting a gear lvl increase but..... RNG needs improving. Since DB came out all I get is prosperous and well-fitted with a reinforced thrown in on the rare occasion. That needs fixing.

They just removed veteran ranks, which made many alts of many people suddenly max level. I imagine that many people are still gearing up their alts or just finished doing so, so I think it is wise to wait a little before raising the cap.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

Is the "seasonal" gear/tier concept still something that's happening or did it get cancelled? I liked this idea personally. If it was eventually just new tiers of latest/greatest followed by last season's tier and everything before it (today's cp10-150) being normalized/having the same stats, then I wouldn't really care often new tiers came out.

The seasonal concept makes even more sense now that CP is shared among characters... and even more sense with all content migrating towards being scaled.
Something being unbalanced in 1v1 does not imply that it is balanced in group play.

I realize some have spent a lot of time grinding dungeons or trials for specific sets - never had the patience for that. Fortunately we have the option now for impen monster helms from the PVP vendor. Until this vendor was added, I had given up on ever getting any monster helm sets long ago.

If it's not something I can craft or purchase from guild trader / AP boxes / Golden vendor / tel var stones, I consider it something that simply doesn't exist in the game for me.

Running a PVE dungeon over and over is not interesting for me. Much rather spend the limited time I have to play in Cyrodiil or Imperial City, and these days there are a lot more options for builds using this sort of gear.

Has the OP grinded out sets of scathing mage or spellpower cure? Do you have a sharpened inferno maelstrom staff? My fiance plays this game more hours per week than his full time job and has since console drop. He has so many champion points he won't even have to grind out new ones after several increases. He would love new, challenging content since the hardest thing now is doing Maw with his guild. He does not want a gear increase AT ALL. If gear farming is all a game has, it is not much of a game.

There's too much going on right now for that to be the right move, lots of people (myself included) leveling alts and looking to equip them, and we should have a chance to play with these new characters for a while before needing to re-equip them next DLC. I think next year should be the soonest they change it, give us some breathing room and don't try to rush things forward too fast. That was probably one of the most annoying parts of Destiny, every few months in that game it's back to the grindstone to get a whole new range of weapons and armor, it was too rushed and didn't give you breathing room to actually enjoy what you already had.

I knew it when gear caps were being introduced. This is going to be just like ilvl. Some number is attached to gear and each higher ilvl is the same gear with slightly upgraded stats and a different aesthetic. The cap is created and raised incrementally every few months to keep players grinding content to stay at the top of the game.

If Champion Points can be attained by progressing through content. Why is CP gear capped and attained by finishing content. It's a fast moving goal post shaped like a hamster wheel that you can never finish.

Gear should be dropped in specific content or crafted with beginning primary stats.
Gear CP should be up-gradable by doing anything in game that requires you to use it.
The hardest content drops the beginning primary Best In Slot with slightly higher stats than gear acquired from normal content.
The cap should remain for gear but it should be capped equal to whatever the current character CP cap is.
Gear and Champion point raises should only happen every year so people can enjoy all the hard work earned through the fruits of their labor.

    Way it should work

    At initial acquisition:
    • Standard Current character CP cap is 501
    • Normal Gear CP cap is 501.
    • Hard mode gear CP cap is 501 with slightly improved stats over the normal mode.
    • Both sets of gear(normal and hard mode) are dropped in the same content with a CP score of 160.
    • Players can improve the CP score to a maximum of 501 for both sets of acquired gear.
    • The CP score reflects what your current character CP is at and can be improved in normal or hard content.
    • Normal mode gear caps at 501 after improving it.
    • Hard Mode gear caps at 501 after improving it.
    • The cap for both types of gear both normal and hard mode remains at 501 for one year.
    • The cap for both types of gear raised to whatever the cap is raised to and mirrors character CP cap raise.
    • The character CP is raised to whatever the cap is raised to and mirrors gear CP cap raise.
    • If you already have 501 character CP your gear is automatically progressed to the 501 cap if your gear is normal or hard mode acquired.

I don't think there's any need in speeding up the power creep
Skye Cloude - Sorc DPS, Master Crafter. Main, the bestest
Lae Lenne - Templar Healer Trial grade.
Dromede - Stamina Nightblade, she's a newb and doesn't know what she's doing
V'oghatta - Stamplar pretending to be a tank
Ulville Thonvella - aspiring Fire Mage, be careful around her fire sticks!
Dromedaris - lost and not found. Named after a shoe, what else can you expect from her? A proper tank in her wildest dreams
Swims-Naked - too pretty to grind, too silly to quest.
Sun Flair - Dunmer Templar that can't spell for life. To bad she's too broke to afford a name change... Well, at least she's pretty...

Gear level increases should be announced 6 months in advance or they should do it on a schedule so people are ready for it and don't waste there time and resources to find there newly completed gear (weather it be via farming or crafting) worthless about a month later.

+1 this. I would also like to propose that when the new gear tiers' associated new materials hit, do NOT do any of the following:

--limit the availability of nodes dropping that resource
--limit the amount of materials gained from deconstructing gear of that tier
--require a drastic increase in the amount of materials needed to construct gear
--restrict activities that drop the new tier to the latest DLC and nothing else

...basically, they should NOT do anything they did when they trotted out the Ruby materials. It's arbitrary. It's unintuitive. it's annoying, expensive, and above all SLOW. We have about a dozen different daily quests in the game now; there are LOTS of more interesting things to do than grind for materials.

I won't say "never", but I hope it's a good long while before they increase the gear cap. I think we are due for a modest CP increase.

This game is so grindy from a gear standpoint, that I think a of the population is in a rather fragile state at the moment. I spent the better part of a year grinding WGT, ICP, and VMA. I finally have "most" of what I need. If they hit the reset button on that, I would be hard pressed to do it again.

Another huge issue is power creep. Other than VSO, VMA, and VMOL, there is no difficult content left. Simply put, we don't need to be more powerful.

I think before they increase a gear cap, they need to rework the loot system from the ground up. I also think it would be a good idea to introduce a gear improvement system, allowing crafters to raise the cap on old gear when they increase levels. Nobody wants to make a gold set of Hundings Rage for the 5th time...

While I will eventually desire another increase in the gear cap, I do agree that it shouldn't come until at least Q4 or later.

BTW, those of you who believed CP would remove the gear grind were not listening when they insisted that making the progression system purely based on Champion Points post 50 allowed them to detach gear from the leveling system and raise it at a different pace, that was *always* their intention and it was easy to see as we watched the idea of veteran rank removals evolve.
    Someone was paying attention!

Honestly I don't want gear cap to increase in the traditional sense at all.

When we do get gear increase I would prefer it if we can use a 50% material type thing to just "upgrade" out gear to a higher level.

Especially considering the amount of alts many of us have...

I have no issues with gear levels being increased once per year. More than that is more trouble than it is worth.

Increasing gear levels as a means to have a reason to run a pledge is not valid IMO but in reality that is the only reason Zos has for increasing max level previously.
